has anyone here use RS-15 and upgraded to windows 10 from win 8 (not clean install)?

i'm facing memory issues, and i'm dumbfounded because i'm sure i never had memory issues in win8.1, and i'm running on 32GB of physical RAM, so that makes me puzzled even more.

Any advice?
*btw, jelly with newer Z5 owners because older CPUs (mobile cpus like our 4700 is not supported by NVidia VR)*
okay some pattern spotted:
play games = bsod, mostly memory management.
just now a weird orange bsod (gpu related) and it also says memory management.
errors found (will update more)

memory management
bad pool header
fault in non paged area
GPU gg?

Hi Hyperyouth,

It only happened after upgraded to windows 10? Have you retested in Windows 8.1?

Nope, nothing on the W8.1; though i recall there was similar issues after downgrading back to w8.1

I'm thinking of testing each memory stick one by one (assuming that its either GPU VRAM fault, or the DDR 3 RAM fault).

i've opened the back, but I can see only 2 slots (other 2 slots through keyboard probably?) so i'm not sure if I can do this or not;
a) windows 10 uses up a lot of memory (like e.g: the resource panel shows 4GB used, but 16GB 'standby', not sure how that works)

b) for better or worse i cannot downgrade to win 8.1 anymore, so i'm not exactly sure how to proceed. Any advice?

BTW, leaving the laptop on 24 hours running other tasks = no problem. As in browsing the internet, listening to music, etc, no problem.

Its only when playing games that BSOD happens.

There are another two slots underneath the keyboard.

I suggest you to reformat rather than downgrading to 8.1.

Hello. I bought the 13 inch clevo w230st (I can't recall the rebranded illegear name exactly; something like rx 13 pro, I think) from Illegear about 2 years ago.

Now, the motherboard appears burnt in a particular area and the laptop doesn't turn on anymore. I'm fairly certain that the motherboard needs replacing but I can't seem to remove it and on top of that, the only replacement I can find ships from the USA, which is troublesome to say the least. So, does Illegear do motherboard replacements and how much would it cost for this model?

Hi disclaimer,

W230ST is a 4 years old model, can we have your serial number to check? You can pm me.

I have a Q5, I have this weird problem suddenly where my cpu cores temperature increase all the way to 90C degree when I'm using my laptop plugged in.

Few days before the laptop still seems fine until suddenly this time when I open it I found that my fan blowing oddly hard and non-stop.

Open up the back cover the heatsink seems clean, nothing clogged up either, why is this?

Even when the battery's removed, as long as the laptop runs via AC cord, it will heat up very fast.

Tried tweaking with the power settings, still the same, I am suspecting thermal paste is dried but it is only a year old, and it is applied with IC Diamond done by the company. Also, the GPU's temp are fine with 70C under load. Scanned with malwarebytes, there's no malware detected.

Hi boiboi95,

90C with Turbo Boost on or off?

Please try to disable Intel Turbo Boost and see if the temperature goes down.

Hi PrinceJ

Just turn it off, it did indeed goes down to average temperature of 66-69, but with CPU idle temperature of 66 isn't good either still no?

Also, after all these while turning my turbo boost on and all in a sudden this happened, is there any possibility reason behind it?

Thanks.
*
Hi boiboi95,

i7 processor idle temp. is around 50 to 60 (intel turbo boost off) and 80 to 95 (intel turbo boost on).

‪ILLEGEAR‬ ‪‎Z7‬ is scoring a 9 out of 10 rating in PC.COM magazine review!

"The heat emitted from a device is one of the most important factors to note. This Z7 has superb heat dispersing ability due to its airflow design and materials, as well as strong cooling fans. I went through long duration of gaming without the machine heating up like a hot plate, though be sure to set its cooling fan to max level when playing with extensive graphic games.

The Z7 also comes with a high performance mobile graphic card, the NVidia GeForce GTX 970M, featuring the impressive NVIDIA PhysX Technology. I experienced the awesomeness first hand as the device produced nothing less than crisp graphic with excellent details and effects.

Equipped with a 6GB GDDR5 of graphic memory, the graphic card is more than capable to support the 17-inch screen, in addition to supporting higher resolution of external monitor without graphic tearing.

The battery life is admittedly long lasting as well. I could stream videos and play games for hours without plugging it in, though if I was participating in a raid, it might be more prudent for me to do so."

Hi,

So what you're implying is that my system is completely fine? But due to this increase of average temperature the fan blows harder than usual and constant, which is a bit of annoying (As mentioned earlier it was quiet and temperature was never this high). Sorry for my doubting, because I'm going to study overseas with this system soon, I do not wish to have any problems with it during over there else it would be very troublesome  sweat.gif

Thank you.

Yes it's normal.

I guess dust has built up in your machine.

Hi ebackbone

Thanks for your feedback about the U4.

That was a typo mistake, it should be 32Wh.

The 8 hours battery life was tested with the same 4-cell 32wh battery at ILLEGEAR STUDIO, our technician stream youtube at 50% brightness and achieved that result.

Therefore, I suspect you received a bad battery, can you pm me your serial number and name details? So I can arrange an exchange for you.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi ebackbone,

No problem on the refund, we can refund the laptop at full price if it's still in the original condition. smile.gif

As mentioned, it was a mistake. We are human too, and human make mistake. We totally had no intention to cheat you, sorry for the inconvenience caused.

As for the 8 hours battery life, we are pretty sure under normal surfing the battery can last 7 to 8 hours, it has been tested in U4 32wh battery.

Thanks.

The laptop is nice gadget but the customer service really need some improvement.

Encountered driver installation issue, called but the answer received "we don't have such issue with other laptop" without effort trying to understand the customer problems.

Eventually was managed to resolve myself by installing the latest driver from the website.

Hope Illegear value customer feedback, just a piece of advice.

Hello wex

Can I know your serial number and any sort of details to trace the service record like phone number? So we can locate and improve.

Thanks!
