I haven't get my skylake with 960M yet. Couldn't commend much. 970M is more than 60% performance compared to 960M. What is coming out the next 3/4 years no one knows best, what can be sure is 970M will be able to play better graphic setting than 960M is for sure.

Like I mentioned Z5 Skylake with 970M should be quite a beast that can last for sometime if you able to fork out around 5.6k

Why you didn't get the haswell 970 one? Only RM400+- different

I initially wanted to get Haswell 960M only. Then stretch to Skylake 960M. Before I place my order, Prince J told me the Haswell 970M promo which torn my mind apart of which one to choose from. After that I settle with Skylake 960M as I barely got time for game now, the game I played mostly will be online game. So I guess 960M should suffice enough.

The answer is pretty straightforward. Z5 Skylake GTX970M for future proof.

y??
no usb 3.1 afaik, or type C
and with skylake dependence on Mobo VRM.. theres a higher chance of mobo degradation than haswell when long term expose to heat etc.

clock to clock 4720hq and 6700hq performs about the same with the former beating the later frequently.

So to be frank the gain is

1. CPU temps lower by 10C since theres no more integrated VRM
2. PCIE NVME SSD ( if u can afford a 512gb.. since anything lower doesnt make sense for a dedicated gaming laptop.. cheaper to get two msata ssd and raid them)
3. Support for 16gb single density dimm ram.

nothing is set for the future atm dude. The only gain ppl are talking about is temps.

So my advice choose based on ure budget with gpu u want first. 960m or 970m and then see whether it falls into haswell or skylake.

There is no such thing as future proofing. Just the Now

Thanks for your insight, which mean Haswell i7 4700HQ 970M vs Skylake i7 6700hq 970M performance are about the same? Except temperature and battery life utilisation is better?

Hello everyone.

Need some guide here. Is anyone here ever try to remove the keyboard on D5 or D7)?
Want to put extra RAM on my D5 & since another extra RAM slot is underneath the keyboard, so I need to remove it 1st.

Thanks

Remove two KB screws at the back and use a thin screwdriver to push the KB out from top. Beware of the ribbon connector.

Hi peeps. I'm using the old RE-15 with win8.1.
I notice there are 4 partitions in my ssd.
1. Recovery
2. Efi system partition
3. Msr partition
4. Windows 8.1

I wanna do a clean install of windows 10.
Can I delete all the partitions? Or just delete partition 4?
And also where can. I get the drivers for the laptop (fan management, the hot keys, etc)?

Not satisfied with the entry-level ‪‎Nvidia‬ ‪‎GTX960M‬? ‪‎ILLEGEAR‬ brings ‪‎GTX965M‬ to the ‪‎Q5‬ and ‪‎Q7‬. The GTX 965M graphics pushes physics processing performance 41% higher than its predecessor. Elevate your gameplay and sense of motion to newer and truer levels of realism.
