My GC (Palit 6800GS) and case get very hot when I play Titan Quest, Heroes 5 and Oblivion to the point where the game crashes and forced to reboot. Ambient temp is around 52-55 C while GC GPU temp is 72-82 C.

Please recommend me a fan to cool the case (Cooler Master Centurion).

I currently have a 3 mini fans on one of the CD-Rom brackets and 1 standard fan in front. I'm thinking of getting an additional fan for the back of the case.

System:

Intel 478 2.8 Ghz 800 FSB
1.5 GB (400) DDR RAM
WD 120 GB SATA HD
Enermax Liberty 500 watts PSU
6800GS AGP 256 MB (Nvidia 84.XX drivers and Riva Tuner, no OC just to increase GC fan speed)
Audigy 2

PS Sorry for the double post in Hardware

What you need is more than another fan, you need a new heatsink for the g.card.
You could try those full copper based heatsinks from Zalman or T.t.

Design wise, the more heatpipes per heatsink, the better the heat distribution.

Pricing starts around Rm 80-150++.

If you have the money, go watercooling:)

sri computer has the zalman fatality vga cooler....

id also recommend putting a rear exhaust fan.... mebbe one of them CM silent fans...they dont push much air but at least theyre still pushing air as to compared to no exhaust at all

u could also cut a hole on ur side panel at the GC aread and install a fan there to help bring in fresh cool air for the vga cooler

U don't need to change any heatsinks if ure not overclocking anything. U just need really good case ventilation. 1 intake fan at the front, 1 exhaust fan at the back shud cure all ure problems. Less than rm10 will sort u out for the 2x80mm fans.

ianho, that what I thought at first. I notice if I remove the top lid my system does not crash, but negative aspect is that a lot of dust will collect inside the case after a while.

The original heatsink for the GC is very big but the heatsink looks very cheap like plastic, definitely not copper.

Dude before you spend more cash on it, try improving the ventilation of your case first. Ensure that there is plenty of airflow and test out whether your PC still crashes. Do you use it in an air-conditioned room?

Stupid Sri Com staff, went there today saw the Zalman Kit (2 types). Dumbasses don't even bother to check if they have stock.

Went to PC Zone which they also sold, but problem is the kit does not protect the PCI-to-AGP bridge chip.

Check with Overclockers Paradise, also no cooling kit.

Check with Robyn, they said there is a Nvidia specific kit but no stock.

End of the day, bought a PCI slot cooling fan and 8 cm fan for the back of the case. Hopefully this works for the overheating problem.

But if anyone still knows of a cooling kit for the 6800GS AGP please inform me.
