Hi Friends,
I am new here to this forum. I bought a 2007 Make Savvy in january this year. From then have been enjoying the ride.
Just recently i noticed the Auto light indicator is ON. i thought that this indication of AMT oil is finished. So i topped up the oil with remaultmatic oil . But still the Auto light is ON position and when i am standiing on a traffic signal the Gear position changes automatically to N. Also during the time the Auto light is ON the speedometer stops to respond to speed. Can you guys help me out as what could be the problem. also i live near brickfields and work in bukit jalil. Any advise on a good service center where i can get my Savvy checked would be really helpful.
thanks in advance.

hi Friends,
First my intro.
sukesh123, M-Line, AMT, Tranquility Black, Sep06, 140000 KM as of Sep 2014.
I have been going through a lot of threads lately on Savvy. My mistake was i didnt research more before buying a savvy and now when i have bought one no use in being wise or regret on my decision to buy a second hand car which has so many problems.
ALthough til now i have faced problem of speed sensor. but there is oil leak that is happening and i need to fill up the AMT oil on periodic basis to keep the Auto light from glowing. ( I find the cost of refilling to be much cheaper than goinf for the full overhaul of the AMT system as suggested in the threads)

what i would like to know from you guys is is it a better choice for people like me who are short on case to either
1. Buy 2006 SAVVY AMT in RM 8000 then later spend around 2-3 K on getting it repaired.(Which i have done)
2. Buy 2006-7 MYVI for 22000 and maybe spend around RM 500 in repairs.

which would be a better choice.
Also if you can help me out whether i should let the oil leak problem be there and ignore till the AMT auto light does not glow.
I got it checked with Renautech and they suggested an amount of RM 2000 to fix the problem.

went to osman baba workshop, but not very pleased with the environment.

looks like a junk shop rather than a workshop. after 3pm also still not yet open on friday.

Thats really surprising. I had heard some great reviews for the work shop. Were you finally able to get your car serviced.
How was the service. How much time did they take.
any feedback on the type of workmanship.

I have one question. Every time i turn my car key to on position all light comes on. but after 3-4 seconds all light goes off only the OIL Light remains on. but when i start the car the light goes on. I need to know whether this is normal or some problem with OIL which needs to be checked.

If before engine start, the OIL light is normal. If AFTER engine started still got light, means low oil pressure. Either the oil become too watery? Not enough oil? Or the sensor damaged.

If after engine started, other lights also came on, could be airbag/abs/transmission. For further clarification, please snap a photo after engine start.
*
Thanks David for your prompt reply. After engine on no light comes. Means everything OFF after engine on.
only when i turn Key to ON then the Oil Light will display. when i switch on ignition it will go off.

Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to Swap the installed HU in our savvy with some other Audio system. Its very difficult to carry a lot of music as the player canot play MP3 CD's and there is no USB port. i saw some posts on people changed their Savvy's HU to a single DIN system. but is it really advisable and will cause no harm to the Savvy electrical symbol.
if no problem which system is advisable with simple features like MP3 playable format and USB support and where can we get it changed in KL area.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

yes. you may want to buy a casing to hide the screw holes

simple player - consider pioneer/kenwood's usb receiver - no cd

Thanks for your reply. So this means we can swap the HU with another unit and it will not harm the Savvy Electrical system as such.
Any idea of any good accessories shop around KL area which can do the swap with reasonable price.

AD1 accessories at Taman Tayton smile.gif Most of my cars were done there despite I stay in Sri Damansara nod.gif

Another 1, my GaGa is using that Pioneer from the link, also stock speaker :lol

Thats cool. Do you have the number of that shop and how much it cost you for the HU. im really fed up of the stock HU as need to make CD's every time and one CD will only contain about 14-15 songs only.
really need to change that System.

Just replace my built in HU with a Phillips CD player with USB and SD card support and im really loving the new found music i can enjoy on my savvy.
Thanks for all you guys advice on the same.
Need one help on another topic i was recently checling my cooolant container and found that there is no water and the container was empty.
i bought battery water from a Petronas shop and refilled it to the MAX indicator. this was 2 days ago.
today i checked and found again the coolant water level has gone down drastically and i needed to fill almost half a bottle of battery water.
woudl there be a leakage somewhere i need to check and how much would i need to spend on this to get it repaired.
thanks in advance.

Few places need to be checked:

1) Thermostat return hose connector
2) Thermostat housing
3) Water pump bypass hose
4) Water pump
5) Water pump bypass hose housing
6) Reservoir tank hose

Last but not least, pick up the dipstick and check engine oil level. If engine oil level is increasing, and the color of the engine oil is not black nor transparent brown, came the color of coffee/white, that means hailut.com.my. Need to get the engine overhaul soonest possible. Coffee/white color engine oil meaning there's leaking internally, possibly caused by blown headgasket, as radiator coolant goes into engine oil. If not being treated immediately, water will continue to sip into engine block, ended up water will jam up your piston. By then, we're looking at change engine rather than repair.

Good luck

THis sounds a lot of work and too much expense on the pocket. I just got the clutch pump socket changed. will this be too much expensive. Where do i get this checked. should i go to renautech.

hi David,
Sad to hear about your FB thing. I personally am an avid checker for posts on Savvy on FB and lowyat.net forums. SO as long you are available here to help us guys out we should not care about going back to FB for help. biggrin.gif

Lately i have spent a lot on my savvy AMT (clutch pump + engine oil leak ) and other problems.
regarding my Savvy OIL leakage thing I showed to a local mechanic and he told me keep an oil box ready for topup whenever u get the issue. this things cannot be repaired. So was very dissapointed.
Anyway showed to another mechanic and he told me some gasket problem in engine and OIL SUM is ok so he just needs to replace some gasket and the issue will be resolved.so he charged me some money and repaired the thing.
the oil leakage though less now but still there is leakage. cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

now Have started facing another issue my Savvy lost all power. As this is an AMT model dont have a clutch. Even on straight roads to drive at around 80 KMPH need to press the accelerator very hard. the Car does not seem to have any interest in driving. no POWER at all.
I can see some other smaller cars whizz past my Savvy but its very difficult to even overtake a lorry with the same power.
I can feel the pressure on the accelerator pedal and need to press that very hard.

Any advise on what could be the issue......

First of all, you'll need to identify where is the leak by yourself.

1) Get a stack of old newspaper
2) Tape them up to form a huge piece of floor plan. Make sure the size equal to engine bay less front wheels
3) Laid the piece of "plan" on your parking lot, secure with heavy stones/bricks at all 4 corners
4) Parked the car on top of the "plan" and leave it over night
5) Wake up with open bonnet, use torch light to shine into your engine bay and look into the "plan" see where the dripping spot is, and directly you can see where the leakage are
* I would be a plus point if you buy mahjong paper in white to be your "plan" for easier identification. But hey, a crap car deserved crap diagnostic laugh.gif

Set those aside, here's a general idea on regular leakage are for D4F engine.

a) Crankshaft bearing oil seal
b) Camshaft bearing oil seal (Same as a, wait for timing belt change)
c) Oil sump (need to remove entire oil sump for the replacement, suggest wait until next oil change)
d) Oil drain nut seal (ownself use gasket paper cut 1 piece and replace it during next oil change)
e) Flywheel oil seal (wait for clutch replacement)
f) Rocker cover breather valve clogged. Oil get sucked out from the other side of the purge valve and entered into intake hose. Extensive oil sip into combustion chamber, spoil the sparkplug seal(oil doesn't get along with rubber), and leak through sparkplug.
g) Rocker cover breather hose cracked/ruptured, become vacuum leak. Brake pedal become harden, lack of power in cruising speed(no affect when full throttle).

As for your serious power loss, I'd like to try your car by myself before further comment. If you can record a video on your dashboard instrument(both RPM and SPEED need to be on the same screen) while driving, it'll be easier for me to assess what could be the problem. nod.gif If not too much hassle, come to SS2/67 KFC look for a very bad conditioned red Shawie, then stand infront of ShabuShabu and shout SATU MELEISIA, HIDUP SAWI x 6 times very loudly, then I'll popped out nod.gif Usually it worked in the morning during working days, better chance on Monday and Tuesday. Weekend I no work, so definitely won't be there.

Hey David,
Thanks for your extensive reply.
From all the points above i can feel the point g
g) Rocker cover breather hose cracked/ruptured, become vacuum leak. Brake pedal become harden, lack of power in cruising speed(no affect when full throttle).

this is what i feel while driving and when i mentioned pickup is slow. I feel the break padel has become harder and lack of power. ( sorry to hav forgotten to mention that break padel has become harder )
So what do i need to expect if need to repair this . how much dent in the pocket. rclxub.gif

Off the current topic, yesterday met wt 1 otai in PD, 1st batch Shawie AMT M-Line trim belak kaler. Everything original. Refering to him, Shawie is an ultra low mentenans monster. 9 years never suffer major repair except for the rear wheel bearing(did not go back for recall due to warranty void as he did his own service). Here's some contribution for reference.

Long live Shawie! Hidup Shawie! 1 meleisia Shawie!

Wow Nice tips David..... Wish I can follow even half of these tips and my Savvy can drive me through the next 2 Years.....
