My Sime Astar 100 had done marvelous job, clocked atleast 30000km on my hand. Being hardcore punished, long journey, rough riding in construction site, eating nails many times, also travelling at totally flat this morning.

It's May 2011 tyres, I have no idea how far previous owner travelled with these tyres, but as at September 2012, it left about 60% thread, and now its running below the thread marker. Bye Astar.

The moment I got in the car, start the engine, ready to reverse out. As soon as I release my clutch pedal, engine stall. These tyres has so much of grip, it bite the floor so eagerly to the extend I can feel the car need extra power to move forward. Have stalled my engine 5 times in total in 1 day from standstill to movement. Despite having such slim width at 165, it bites the road much harder than my 185 tyres. I know it's improper to compare an old AD01 old technology tyres, but indeed the price for this cheap and cheerful performance tyre yield much better grip then previously I've used 195/50R14 Yoko Advan AD01. Along the way, the beginning 30~50kms I'm trying to adjust myself to the new rubbers. The noise level is as crappy as my old Astar, road noise kinda loud. The noise resonating inside the cabin as if I'm riding in a faulty bearing army truck. Tyre pressure set at 260lb(hot temperature in the afternoon). It's much bumpier than my HiFly HF201.

After some distance of travel, surprisingly the road noise gone. I no longer hearing sand/stones hitting my mudguard anymore. Road feedback become extremely realistic. I can feel every single detail feedback from the tyre via my steering wheel. The heavy feeling still intact, but I kinda got used to it. I find these tyres need faster speed to perform better. On an average of 80kph travelling speed, steering feedback is kinda numb as it almost feedback every single thing on the ground, probably ran over an ant also can be felt. However, above 100kph road noise will be automatically reduced to minimal, as close to not hearing at all! For the 1st time I heard my exhaust pipe humming in the car. From Selayang to Rawang, I've been maintaining between 120 ~140kph along the stretch of high speed curves, notice the tyre side walls are very rigid. There aren't too much extra radial movement cause by reshaping of the tyre wall, other than physically suspension movement.

I parked the car, went meet client, my palms are sweating and my heart is pumping, eagerly wanted to hold on my steering wheel again. I know it's not a proper racing tyres. I've driven slicks, they're different and 1 wouldn't wanted to have slick tyre on a street car. I can't express the kinda joy I'm having right now. Even now I'm typing this paragraph, I can still feel the grip, the confidence, and the insane feedback from the steering wheel. Call it placebo, but I love that feeling. What left for me to worry now is the wet traction. As soon as the dry season pass, I will be giving my wet test review. I believe, reliability will take time/distance to tell. So, that part will be later. As soon as I finishes the tyre, I'll be giving another review again.

Should have keep my old lower arm, so you can bring it to install PU bush, then can pasang as new. Mine no bengkok, just the bush slightly wear off saje. Can't confirm at this point whether your caster is due to the lower arm bengkok, but looking at it, your undercarriage also kena scrape. Wondering if there's other collateral damage as well. nestum any comment?

Ayam glad could be help over Shawie frens. nestum must be damn du9lan with me cause I spoiled his poison on CD2 whistling.gif Nonetheless, he should proud of me bringing in business though. In the hope in future he will impork more K series good + affordable special saiz tayar for Shawie family icon_rolleyes.gif

Usually peeps would say teredwear hai, grip must be lousy. I was looking at the rating at TW400, but the touch and feel of the tyre side wall is impressive. The moment of the 1st time the tyre roll forward, the amount of sand/stone being lifted up hitting the guard was tremendous, that emits PIK PAK noise all over the place. I already felt impressed by it. By the look of the water rail, I believe wet traction could be unbelievably good. Sidewall may not matched with K-Sport as I press with my finger, but hey! How many of us pek konar at 180kph geh? Speed rating is V spec same as K-Sport. Frankly, for the price u pay I rather take the K-economist then K-Sport.

I'll wait for your WET report as soon as u hit the rain. Stay safe and have fruitful FC day with the new tyres and light weight rim.
