QUOTE(sukesh123 @ Sep 3 2014, 03:30 PM)
hi Friends,
First my intro.
sukesh123, M-Line, AMT, Tranquility Black, Sep06, 140000 KM as of Sep 2014.
I have been going through a lot of threads lately on Savvy. My mistake was i didnt research more before buying a savvy and now when i have bought one no use in being wise or regret on my decision to buy a second hand car which has so many problems.
ALthough til now i have faced problem of speed sensor. but there is oil leak that is happening and i need to fill up the AMT oil on periodic basis to keep the Auto light from glowing. ( I find the cost of refilling to be much cheaper than goinf for the full overhaul of the AMT system as suggested in the threads)

what i would like to know from you guys is is it a better choice for people like me who are short on case to either
1. Buy 2006 SAVVY AMT in RM 8000 then later spend around 2-3 K on getting it repaired.(Which i have done)
2. Buy 2006-7 MYVI for 22000 and maybe spend around RM 500 in repairs.

which would be a better choice.
Also if you can help me out whether i should let the oil leak problem be there and ignore till the AMT auto light does not glow.
I got it checked with Renautech and they suggested an amount of RM 2000 to fix the problem.

Sukesh

From what I know, production line ady stopped at 2010, so u need to be sure its 2011. Price wise, in 2012 for old stock 2010 was calling 27k. So I'm guessing 22k is not a bad idea. Things to prepare as a Shawie AMT owner:

1) Servicing in Plotong aint cheap, not normal gear oil, must use back Renaumatic ELF oil, otherwise gebox rosak.
2) From what I know, even Plotong themself short of gebox replacement part. Be ready incase berakdown, car kena stuck in SC for 6 months, or sendiri void woranti send outside do. Take note AMT gebox repair cost, is an atomic bomb!
3) If u ready to spend 2k and change to manual transmission incase AMT rosak.
4) Must learn minimum technical knowledge to maintain the car. Servicing/imported parts is gonna costs € just like a BMW.
5) Minor fault is better to DIY replace/repair. Such as TDC sensor(crankshaft position sensor), clean totobodi, powahsteering suis. Those are the things that if u can DIY, u save a lot of moolah. If u think still within woranti send back to Plotong, be prepare for the 6 months wait for sparepart, and probably after 6 months they tell u they ordered wrong part and u had to wait anor 6 months sleep.gif

So, basically I believe any of us who lurk here long enough is even more qualified than any Plotong engineer in fixing a Shawie. Nonetheless, RM22k indeed tempting. If I got the juice, I think I'll buy & enjoy the AMT. Buy a full set of MT assembly and wait for after 5-6 years when AMT rosaked, I get to switch to MT and continue enjoy it for very long time to come wub.gif

hi all pro masters,

may i know what kind of engine oil rating are recommended ?
and my budget is quite limited for now, so do give suggestions on engine oil choice, thx alot!
*
Can use thicker viscosity oil such as 20w50 if oil level consistently drop, If engine oil level no change over long period of driving, then you can choose to continue with fully synthetic or semi synthetic smile.gif
