Is there no way to directly root the phone on kitkat? Need to.downgrade first? Any methods to root without the use of a pc?

there is no way to directly root on kitkat or root without use pc.
simple step : Downgrade to .534 and install nuts dual recovery to get working root and recovery. Next, put the rom of your choice onto your sdcard and turn off your device. Turn on your device and hold volume down button to get into twrp. Rest of the step just follow the instructions.
