Last Friday went Genting, frightening thing happen when i reach 1st World Hotel there, that road is down hill with speed bump, so i just hit brake, press clucth and down shift from 3rd to 2nd gear, suddenly i saw the battery indicator blinking and then i loss power steering. f***, the engine stall in N condition. But luckily that time is down huill, so i quickly re-start engine and release clutch and the car go. Short while i reach 2nd speed bump and do the same thing, engine stalled again...and this time no matter how i start the engine just won't alive.

With loss of power steering and brake booster, i steer and brake so hard to stop the car and make a turn into road side empty space. I was hopeless, then i turn OFF everything. After that i restart the car, wuekeeeeeeee for around 40s finally the car came alive. It exactly same condition when i change battery last time.

WTF...i can't brain anything but only can think engine cylinder is overflow by injected fuel during up hill until the spark plug is getting wet. I remember when i go up at the final stage, couple of times i change from 3rd to 2nd gear too slow due to 1st time drive there and underestimate the inclination of the slope. Then maybe the unburn fuel is too much and can't escape from exhaust quickly due to slow engine speed, hence the spark plug is floaded by fuel and stall my engine.

Battery voltage?

Flooded the engine? Unlikely, as there is always combustion going on. It will only flood IF you put the car to START, then turn the car off. Do that a few times, the engine will flood, as there is no combustion to burn the excess fuel. As long as your engine is on, its almost impossible for your engine to be flooded with petrol. Remember, 3 items are needed for a combustion, air, fuel and spark.

The battery is new la, just slightly over a year. I have no sign of crank problem since i changed battery last year.

I'm not sure what's the actual problem, imagine up hill the engine speed is slow, you press hard on accelerator on wrong gear, car not going further, but the fuel is keep injected based on your input, so alot of fuel is unburnt (too rich), but it can't escape quickly through the exhaust due to engine speed is slow, so it fload the spark plug lo...The car is stall in N gear with clutch pressing, not because of i engage/release clutch like those newbie.

Or my engine suffer altitude sickness?? laugh.gif

wah dangerous oh... izzit ur alternator malfunction? since battery indicator lit up?
*
Battery indicator will lit up when the engine stalled/engine not started.

I can feel the engine is jerking then stall. That time i still pressing clutch.

Alternator malfunction? No sign of it as i always keep track with it since my VS got voltage indicator on that. Voltage will never <14.2 when engine running.

As long as the engine is running, fuel will be burnt. Correct me if I'm wrong, davidke20

But your problem only happened when you are going down hill, kan?
*
Yup, that one is the very 1st down hill after the tough up hill. That's why i guess that shit happen.

From what i know, fuel will unburnt and escape from exhaust (What we called too rich) and then the O2 sensor at the exhaust magnifold will feedback and instruct ECU to reduce fuel injection rate, but it has limited degree of correction.

Since then no problem at all, even i went down from Genting on Sunday.

Cool, on a serious note when u come back down from genting, how much fuel was left in ur tank? The stalling might be due to low fuel if ur tank is low on fuel..

I refuel for full tank at Seremban before i went up, fuel level is at high side.
