In the wild, is always a chain of food. Every living animals will try to survive on their own. Bigger one will always get the smaller weaker ones. So, at least they die in a way that nature was meant for them. Whether they get eaten or they die of old age. Rather than they get all sorts of disease in the drain with no food.
