I disable Google Now too and hibernate Google Search. But Google Play Services cannot totally get rib off since its part of os. What I do is disable it's permission on Keep Awake, Location & Post Notification to minimize the wakelock.

rom not really impact the battery life, it's kernel. you can just root, get custom recovery and flash ElementalX kernel. then undervolt, underclock(optional), profit.

if you still want to flash custom rom which most close to stock, then flash catalysm rom.

working fine for me. I even tried 675 before but intermittent unstable. so 700 is the best for me.

never stay at stock more than a day since day 1. no details record saved for comparison, sorry...
