Macs can play VCD. Pretty much any OS can play VCD

VCD are encoded in MPEG-1 Format . QuickTime could read it

Make sure QuickTime is in your Dock. Take a .DAT FILE [MPEG] and drop it to QuickTime and you could watch the VCD.

If you want it 'automatic' , then get VLC...Just enter the CD. It supports VCD Menu or you could try MacVCD
