Wow. And I used to go to Avenue K for lunch all the time, and I kinda like it there - especially the food court and Sushi Zanmai. Good on ya then to have escaped such an imbalanced and crazy work environment.

I have had my share of bad experience working for Chinaman company in Construction and Engineering. Getting bullied by one or 2 upper management personnel in particular and brainwashing others that I perform badly when I don't. Those who never worked together with me actually think badly of me because of how gossip is spread in the company - I was careless sometimes and resulted in some loss to the company I agree, but otherwise dedicated, cooperative, hardworking, willing to learn and proactive. Made more money for them than that one incident. But the bullying started way before that. Fortunately, most of the lower level ppl who works with me does not share the same sentiment as certain ppl in office. Management were not so professional in encouraging that others to bully too, by means of giving bad remarks in front of others. Favoritism was so obvious.

I've gotten quite a lot of job offers from my clients after project handover, but I was always dumb to stay on.... for a few years until I could not take the bullying anymore. I felt like forcing myself to do perform a job I did not like but still have to weather through cuz of commitment and responsibility.

It was hell, but at the end I gave up. I did not snap, I just took one of the offers that the clients offered me and I left. They were not happy that I was joining the client knowing that this will affect their relationship. But I did not do so because of spite but because of career advancement. Happiest decision of my life. And now after 6 years and a jump after, making 7 times what I made there and enjoying life.
