Absolutely ridiculous.

I have Citibank platinum card.

I have linked almost every utility and insurance to my credit card, every month also exceed RM 2K+ on charges alone. Pay also on time.

Suddenly this jokers decide to slap me with Annual Membership Fee and GST. So I called up and asked them to waive. Then this lady from Retention department told me is over already, they don’t have such waiver policy. She say she can offer me 50% waiver for both membership and GST. She say they need the money for “Enhancement” purposes and then she gave me a lecture for 5 long mins and in the end if want to know more please refer to web site.

After she finish talking, I told her to transfer me to settlement department cause I want full settlement. She keep asking for reasons and asked me to explain. I said don’t need to explain I want full settlement, is there any option to waive interest (last time I did this to CIMB, they waived RM 300 on interest charged). Tired of her, I told her to waive whatever and I will cancel my card later… I cut the line off after that.

15 minutes later, she called back and she told me that I should opt for free for life card instead if I don’t want to get slapped by charges. Also, she told me I need to make a request annually for waiver of annual membership and GST. (lol sudden change?).

Such underhand tactic of doing business. I don’t want to go through the hassle of getting approval or an argument like this.

Goodbye Citibank, I will go to some other bank who appreciates my debt.
