That's true! Only a platinum.
Wow miss fly is very informed.
but most citigold customers can so easily qualify for prestige
*
For discussion sake... having 200k asset and earning 200k pa (200k pa for prestige right?) is a different story. though... of course those in citigold cannot be just 200k asset. i've heard stories from priority bank RM. some people take the same 200k and rotate among banks just to get the privileges. HAHA

i think people like get confused easily if you don't check carefully and read all the posts and simply comment

avineshhh in the forum above maybe cannot get cards and he asked if he can do FD pledging in order to get a card.
fly126 answered cannot. except that if you are a citigold customer (minimum 200k deposit to be citigold) you can directly get a platinum card without income requirements
Berkshire Breakaway commented that EVEN with citigold you only get a complementary platinum card and NOT a prestige card. which is quite sad. so them banks really want your income documents.

I do not know why suddenly you're blabbering about 200k pa requirement for prestige when we are talking about FD pledging and complementary cards without income requirements.

For the 2nd part i don't know what cock bully story your RM friends say, but your 200k has to maintained in order enjoy the privileges. If not you have to pay heavy admin charges every month and you would be advises to close your account. it does make sense to change private banking all the time. one thing - the privileges are not that great for it to be worthwhile doing so.

no need over react...

you said... most citigold customers can so easily qualify for prestige...

i just want to divert (i did say for discussion sake) and say... being a citigold and qualifying for prestige is very different. i saw what fly said... citigold can get plat card. i know, i read it on the website too (last last time), out of curiousity. i know he asked about the FD pledging.

my bad in not explaining better. i heard the RM said, got people really rotate the money, to get those new joining privileges and free gifts. true story and that one not my friend, work-related. yes, before you jump, i know the different between 'new' privileges and on-going permanent, sometimes type too fast, terlupa. busy tengok news...

so i comment on your post, not on everybody's post before... why people get so jumpy

Hey guys, I am planning to apply for the RM300 cashback rebate promotion but have a few questions:

1) The T&A says that 1 or 2 months after the qualifying period the cashback rebate will be reflected on statement, that means I have to spend RM300 after getting the cash rebate to enjoy the benefits without getting charged interests?

2) Any penalty if I cancel the card upon getting the cashback rebate?

3) Since GST is compulsory, in theory this rebate is only RM250 nett cashback rebate (have to pay RM50 GST)? Assuming that I'm only applying this for the promotion and cancelling right after?
*
1) Yes, in other words. RM300 credit back to you. you spend on RM300 of stuff. Why would you get charged interest for getting money back? though i wonder

2) not that i heard of. maybe some regulars here can provide insight. though i kept the card for 10-11 months before i cancelled. that was end of last year. i applied last week for this promotion. biggrin.gif

3) yes, nett is RM250. 16.67% is you spend RM1500 ngam ngam.

I thought this is for new Citibank customer? You can actually cancel all your Citibank cards then reapply and you will be eligible?
*
T&C say as long as not a customer for the last 3 months... i have not been for >6 months though less than 1 year.

Thanks.

Since I am living in Labuan, I dont use much petrol; less than MYR200 a month! We don't have Tesco here, not even Watson. The most is Guardian, Parkson and Giant. What I do mostly on my credit card is purchase online. I am not sure if the cash back for both card also include online purchase.
*
Hi, i was wondering, why not you look into other cards from other banks more suited for your spending? you can enquire at the 'recommend credit card' thread.

since if you do spend more for online, there are other cards which may serve you better. the other guy already explained how it works. Well, giant and guardian should fit the supermarket/pharmacy category... but no additional rebate except for the 0.3% if for online purchases (if we are talking about the citibank cash back plat).

I have enquired at the 'recommend credit card' thread and one of the recommendation is Citibank Cash Back Credit Card. Therefore, I have sent my application on this credit card. Like I have mentioned earlier, I was wondering if Citibank Business Platinum CC would be a better choice or not since the Citibank staff provide me an option.

My apologies  notworthy.gif  if I have landed in a wrong thread to enquire on the suitable Citibank CC as I thought this thread is open to all enquiry on Citibank CC. I shall get back to the correct thread then  blush.gif

oh i see. i just thought maybe you didn't consider other banks. aiks, my bad.

Hi, Can i know, do CITIBANK have phone in Instalment?
*
You mean you want to by phone and convert to 0% instalment plan?

Yes. it really depends on where you buy the phone. example if you buy a phone (plus contract) from umobile or celcom, you can opt for easy payment plan. not all retailers will have 0% instalment plan (with all banks too), so you just need to do some homework

Yeah it gotta be visa because they will call you up if you have applied online, which in my case I wrongly applied for  Master Cashback initially. They asked me to change it to visa cashback. You need to submit application form plus your documents online within 7 days, and to swipe 3 times within 60 days upon card approval to qualify for RM50 cash back. Spend at least RM1500 with 60 days upon card approval to get another RM250 cash back. I applied it in July and they didn't require me to enrol in e-statement or e-advice as stated in their latest terms and conditions
*
hmm.gif actually a bit confused and paranoid now.

t&c says... When i make a retail purchase of at least rm1500...

Single receipt or multiple swipe? I translated to cumulative spend cause i didnt see 'a' retail purchase. But 1.5k single receipt is... Not the norm? tongue.gif

item 12 is useful if you have plenty of outstanding in another credit card and can't settle it in one go

item 14 is insurance (cover your balance upon Death, TPD, CI). please do NOT take it. biggrin.gif

Citibank Cash Back CC

anybody notice that there's the platinum and gold version?

so those who can't hit the platinum annual income can go for citibank and dump uob one card. though there's still that cash back accumulation of RM50 problem i suppose.

after a year plus of usage, suddenly got NCB rebate for credit shield premier in my statement.

Been wanting to cancel this Credit Shield Premier but they make it such a pain in the ass to cancel it.

How does this thing work? The calculation for the NCB I mean.

Similar to your car insurance. Well, for car insurance, there’s tier. For this credit shield premier, is probably just one tier, say maybe if no claim previous year, 25% (example) off the current year.

Try to cancel it asap. If you have your own insurance, these CSP, is expensive and redundant. It’s part of business to make sign up easy and cancelling difficult. 

Why we need insurance coverage for cc? I still remember previously uob bank also put my cc usage on credit shield program (insurance also). Every ringgit we spend, we need to pay few cents for insurance. At the end of that, the points or cash back we earn can't even cover for the insurance.

Basically the insurance will cover your credit card balance upon death/disability/critical illness. For those who have an unhealthy amount of debt (enough debt that bank will chase for the asset if the person dies), it may come in useful provided if that person dies and not have other insurance, then bank won’t go after the asset lo. Then again… will be paying more on your credit card, ending up just increasing the debt. But for regular users, don’t need it la. Few hundred a month, what debt? tongue.gif
