hi good day.. i would like to ask whether i am able to cash out refunds that has been refunded to my citibank credit card..

CC : Citibank Visa Reward Platinum
*
u spend money with credit card, then cancel, refund, debit.

transaction is on credit, from the card/bank.

the refund entitle u to CASH? bank will go bust!

cash = advance, pay interest.

banks r licensed money lenders, dun ever forget that! tongue.gif

sure cant pay all but "late payment" is different thing right?  hmm.gif
*
late payment charge is a charge slapped for paying late for the full amount for that month.

then there is interest accrued if you do not clear ALL.

so, as long as there is any amount past due, whether actual transactions, late payment charge or int, you get slapped with late charges again and again every month.

remember, these are banks - they can owe you but not you them!

i  am using citibank cash back card last year and annual fee and gst wil be charged to me on december. do the annual fee and gst be waived? any advice? or i need to call cs to cancel the card nw?
*
not auto, u need to call.
call now, confirm the annual fee and gst charging dates.
then ask for waiver/rebate.

for cashback cards, chances are they will agree for annual fee but not gst.
then u decide to keep or not.
if no for both, the card is probably not worth it for you, time to dump.

doesn't affect me since the NIL are mostly on travel & insurance.

but the point is.... it is clear citibank wants to get out of the insurance bit, maybe getting costly for them as insurers raise premium cum gst looming.

btw, a reminder for those on visa rewards with a chargeable category. it was free for year1 but rm100 is chargeable for yr 2.
if u dun want it, need to call them to cancel it before it's too late.
i just cancelled, so the card is now very basic - no annual fee, no category, no extra points. just normal points.
gst not waivable, need to used points to redeem: 200pts = rm1.
this card has little benefit, only good as backup - i keep it as backup to the platinum cashback card.

Last month i paid off every  outstanding before the statement due. Until now i remember  i just swipe around rm1-2k only. Today i check online my statement  i found that the statement said i use up to rm4k. Is there possible the statement not update  yet?
*
statement DUE figure is the total at cut off date for the month.

there can be other transactions after cut off date as well as latest transactions not posted yet - u should know!

Hi guys. Need some confirmation here regarding Citi Cash Back Visa.

I just got the card last month & swipe a few transaction. But now I wanted to settle all the amount outstanding & cancel the card.

Do I still need to pay for the Annual Card Fee or is there any other hidden charges which not aware? Kindly advise. TQVM.
*
if u use it already, a bit of trouble...

no fixed rules - better u call and talk to them.

unlikey they waive af but possible pro-rate or discount. gst, they may slap it on u since u cancel after using so fast.

I didnt swipe any transaction. Tat y~ i found the problem. Last month the merchant doublr swipe  my card. I complained and citi contra back the amount. And appeared  this month again. I confusing with the statement now. I think i wont pay the balance before i get the statement. Easier for calculation
*
what u described sounds like fraud or some technical error.

better u call them, tell them what u found, if they notice anything indicating fraud.

for postings, usually 3-5 days (time for vendor to submit, etc.) after transaction is made, not later than that.

I already called the CS twice just to double confirm. Both of them mentioned that no AF will be charged. They also advised me to wait for the RM50 GST offset until my next statement ie. March 2015.

No more service tax on credit cards

BY SHARANPAL SINGH RANDHAWA

PETALING JAYA: Credit card holders will have to pay the 6% Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the card’s annual fee, but the RM50 service tax will be dropped.

“Some banks may however waive the annual fee upon request.

“Then in such cases, there will be no GST payable,” said Association of Banks in Malaysia executive director Chuah Mei Lin (pic).

Banking sources explained that the GST on the annual fee might vary from RM53 to RM500, depending on the type of card.

They said that cardholders could use their loyalty points or rebates to offset the 6% tax.

Chuah said the implementation of GST would also mean that the RM50 Government service tax on the principal cardholder and RM25 on each supplementary card, which has been imposed since Jan 1, 2010, would be abolished.

“Beginning April 1, this service tax will be abolished in accordance with the GST Act,” she said in a statement.

Chuah also made it clear that GST would not be imposed on late payment charges and finance charges.

“Late payment charge refers to the charge when the cardholder fails to pay at least the minimum monthly payment by the due date,” she said.

Finance charges, she said, were charges imposed on the cardholder on the outstanding balance which has not been settled on or before the payment due date.

Chuah also dismissed talk that cardholders would have to pay GST each time their card was swiped.

“GST is not chargeable when swiping a credit card to make payment.

“For example, if you eat at a restaurant which is registered for GST, and the bill comes to RM50, you will be charged 6% GST on the total bill. So the amount you have to pay would be RM53 (ie RM50 + 6%).”

“If you choose to pay for the bill using your credit/debit card, you will not be charged a further 6% on top of the RM53,” she said.

Customs Department GST director Datuk Subromaniam Tholasy said the abolition of the RM50 service tax would benefit cardholders as they would now only have to pay the 6% on the annual fee.

“For example, if an annual fee of a platinum card holder is RM500, then the cardholder will only need to pay RM530 (RM500 + RM30, which is the 6% tax).”

“The RM30 is obviously a lesser amount that a cardholder has to pay compared with the RM50 service tax,” he said.

Done, thanks!. But only got waived 50% of the annual fee. Well, better than nothing.  smile.gif

hmm...

first time hearing this... 50% waiver? rolleyes.gif

anyway, i got a call to change from visa rewards to visa signature. i said no, becos i already have some other visa infinity.

but i sense that citibank may soon be getting rid of this rewards card since it carries no annual fee (and hence no gst) if u do not subscribe to any spending category. maybe they r thinking... no "side fees", better bury it?

this visa rewards card was a successor to the old goldcard. received a memo... something about they couldn't sort out for insurance premiums auto debit auto transfer from card to card after 1.5 years, need to re-register all over again. quite a hassle.

once bitten twice shy... so, i m giving up the rewards card before they give more trouble; in process of moving insurance auto debit to another bank card.

if u hv the visa rewards card, u will know what i mean...

will keep the cashback card as long as they waive annual fee. if no or 50% waiver, useless for me.

just to report...

been with citibank for cards for 20 yrs. i have 2 citi cards - mastercard cashback n visa rewards (changed from gold visa).

last statement, there was a AF shown in the rewards card, never before. i called up and asked why... when i took the card, they said it is AF free as long as i dun not hv any category for special points. answer now becomes, "it depends on yr spending and payment". my answer was straight, "ok, u lied when u said it is AF free but i know i hv waived all my rights". waiver was granted finally but i will terminate this card soon. i redeemed all my points for cash vouchers. 2 days later, they sent me a signature premier miles card invitation which i dumped into the garbage bin.

that leaves me with the citi cashback card. as i hv said several time here, this cashback card is only good if they waive the AF. if u pay AF, all yr cashback is given back to them, waste of time. if they refuse to grant me AF waiver next round, it's 100% bye-bye.

i dun like to leave them after 20 yrs but they seem to be pushing away loyal customers for new ones. so be it, then.

i still have another card which auto waives AF n GST, no questions asked, no need to call n beg. wink.gif

Please advice, should I call Citibank before(a month before anniversary)/after they charge me the AF for the waiver?
If they refuse to waive the AF, and I decided to cancel the card on the spot. Do I need to pay for the charged AF?
*
if u hv been billed, u shud call right away.

if still before anniversary, no need to pay if u cancel.
