QUOTE(Vsmh @ Jun 14 2015, 06:21 PM)
Some tips on Photography.

This is more geared toward the camera on the 920 but may apply for normal usage or other phones too.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Sun Tzu, The Art of War

In context we need to know our phone and its capabilities, now that’s half the battle.

About the 920 ‘s camera :

1. It’s a 8.7 mp cam with Carl Zeiss Lens plus OIS (optical image stabilization) source : Microsoft's official 920 site
and
Nokia Lumia 920 Camera
*Megapixels are not everything, it must come hand in hand with the lens and processing software.
2. The lens is F2 (meaning that our phone is capable of near and medium shots but not distant shots.
3. Low light capabilities allow us to shoot in low light conditions ( and thus does better in low light but I think lacks some colors and contrast in day time shots (don't worry, we can always use apps like Fhotoroom or a filter to make it better) P.s : Even the 930 and 1520 are not very good with low light from what I've seen.

Included are some tips that i have gathered from around the internet,
they are in pdf format because I wanted to read it offline instead of loading the page every time. The links within the pdf still work AFAIK (as far as i know).

Here is a well written article on using the 920's camera

If you need more just google or do a YouTube search. I'm sure there are a few out there.
Use a tripod.
It helps with stabilization for macro shots , blur-less pictures and long exposure shots (google to see some examples of long exposure)
I'm yet to experiment with this and would be trilled if someone can fill this in.
I did however try without a tripod. Do refer to the included picture (its called light trails) but its not a very good shot since its kinda blurry.

[attachmentid=4485892]

This guy uses a 920 as his camera and i think his shots are great.
[attachmentid=4485935]

Bottom line, I think the quote by Adam Ansel (pro photographer) "A good photograph is knowing where to stand"
serves as the golden rule. One more shot to prove it. [attachmentid=4485943] I took a few shots but didn't give me a satisfying look of KLCC so i went around and shot it again, probably my 3rd shot and got this, Because one doesn't always get a shot of KLCC and the moon right?  biggrin.gif  (Used HDR inverse filter)

Something we the newer gen dont get to see much
[attachmentid=4485964] (Filtered with Time filter)

Go out and experiment, try something new or do some research. All the best guys.
Hope this can help you guys out. Do feel free to give me feedback or correct me if there are any mistakes here.
Also sorry for the late reply, I thought my email would notify me but it didn't, and thank you guys for the kind remarks or comments.

many soft resets.. hey I've even checked with nokia (still nokia at the time and they didn't know how to fix except change new board and just out of warranty meaning is $$$).
happened after a year of owning this phone. the yellow tinge slowly but the usb was I discovered while transferring something. it took forever. didn't think much of it then but after afew days I realised it was like the pc didn't detect my phone. tried on many pc. even passed to my colleague like I mentioned. since he was using L1020.

hey, I'm not complaining. I'm just stating that even with all this happening to the phone I'm still using it. really like the phone and as long as I can still use for communication and photo taking, I'm still going to stick to this. fixing is kinda no point as it cost almost the same as a new one.
*
yup..till now i still using this phone

still cannot get a real replacement of this phone sad.gif

ooh.. thats a good idea.. can buy toolkit from online? I mean to open up the phone and all.
but this is my only phone.. a bit worried too.
yea.. although I'm tempted to switch to L830/930 or iphone 6plus. but none of them fully has what this phone have.
only L1020 does, and that phone bulky on 1 side kinda weird..
*
i did plan to go for L1020 due to camera ..but seems like no upgrade in term of processor sad.gif

Oh that's weird. I hope you keep your auto back up on (just in case the internal memory fails)
Indeed, the Motherboard is expensive and you'll have to wait for parts to arrive even if you send in for repairs.
Here is a complete video to help you, pay attention to some warnings or rewatch the specific part when in doubt. Ive opened my before and getting the case off can be a tiny bit hard.

920 disassembly and reassembly.

I suggest downloading the video (easier to watch and fast forward / rewatch a part)
I think the 1020 takes some time to snap shots (just an opinion since i didn't test it side by side)
*
yup..it took some time to process photo

my friend have L1020

I believed the model Lumia 920 and 925 is similar ? ..
If yes, then is there any user here experienced with the phone in bricked condition whereby charging is not working with the phone and its totally dead.

Cant turn on at all even using different methods of hardware reset .. sad.gif
*
both are similar ..

i never have this issue before , but what i encounter is

if your phone battery are fully drained , when u plug in your powerbank or charger . Device required to charge for around 20min before it can fully boot up

Lumia 920 unresponsive touch screen issue.

This morning I found out that the touchscreen is not working anymore. Usually when this happened, I will press on the camera button and the touchscreen is back to normal. But today its not normal anymore. I believe the phone is ok because when I touch the buttons everything works but the touchscreen is the only issue.

If I replace the digitizer, will it help or I need to change the board or something else? If it is only digitizer's fault, I already search ebay for replacement.

http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/Black-Panel-Tou...=item2c7f75ed70

Kindly advice please sad.gif
*
common issue on touch screen i think

sometime just keep press n hold power button until it pop up slide down to power off

then press windows button few times ..it works

QUOTE(Vsmh @ Aug 8 2015, 02:46 PM)
Hmm too bad. Maybe there is a loose connection between battery, this issue was present on some phones that made it randomly reboot. If youre adventurous enough you can try disassembling it and adding a small piece of paper or card below (between battery and phone housing), then check connection of the battery cable. For reference Lumia 920 disassembly.
Hi there, sorry to hear you have such an issue.
Have you tried a soft reset? (power + volume down together) for 15 seconds or until it vibrates.
If it works after that then maybe its software related.
You may try using the Windows Phone recovery tool to clean flash it.
Note : IT WILL DELETE ALL DATA, Please do a backup of your important files.
Also you must use the original cable (not some cheap or pasar malam geh, or it your phone wont be detected), if it fails to detect try a different usb slot, if it still fails, try a different computer.

All the best and keep us posted.

glad to see the lumia 920 family still living strong~ well I had encountered unresponsive screen before and doing a soft reset did helped, try to see is any new installed app is causing the problem by uninstalling new app, if this doesnt help, back up all your precious data and try a hard reset...

If none of these help, I guess its hardware issue and you might have to spend some coins..

All the best!

By the way, I have a question.

Does your 920 heat up considerably while on data? I dont even bother gaming.

I stay on 3G but damn almost every time i use data it goes berserk.

P.s If yours doesnt let me know what carrier and plan you're using.
