Need advice from Nvidia sifus. I have been using AMD for past 3 years, time for me to switch camps for a change.

Currently using a 6870 and plan to upgrade to GTX760. I do not over clock nor do I plan to SLI.

Whats the cheapest 760 available? I don't really care for games included as I would probably sell it to get back the capital.

Survey in garage sales shows that the Zotac seemed to be priced most competitively at RM799 with bundled games. I was thinking to sell the games to lower the entry price.

Is that a good idea? Or is there a reason why Zotac is sold so cheap?

Any other brands priced as competitively?

Cheapest would be either Zotac or Leadtek GTX 760 at around RM799. Do note that these are reference models though.

Ermm...probably the reason is that most other manufacturers overprice their products. tongue.gif Zotac, Leadtek, Palit and Gainward are priced quite reasonably in our region, fortunately. If you can top up a little more, I would recommend you to go with Gainward GTX 760 Phantom (check out lingloong from Garage Sales) as it is faster clocked and comes with an excellent cooling solution. It does however come with only 2 years warranty, as compared to Zotac's 2 + 3 years warranty.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Any reason why I should go for the Phantom, I read reviews seems that the gains are marginal <10% although it is clocked higher.

Reason why I initially chose Zotac is mainly for the games included. I don't need it which is why I thought if I sold it, at least I can technically say I paid less for the card.

So in terms of value/performance actually improved if I sold the said games.

Does the Gainward or Palit comes with games?

You're right, the gain is marginal but at least you do get a quieter card with better temps. smile.gif

If these are of no concern to you, then by all means do go with the reference card. With bundled games and a 5 year warranty, it's really very hard not to like. laugh.gif AFAIK, only Zotac comes with the Splinter Cell bundle. The other brands do not come with games if not mistaken. Best to double check with reseller. smile.gif

Thank you. Yeah I don't mind a few FPS if I can save RM100+.

I wonder how much the ref 960 will b when it launches. Probably 850+?

SG listed prices for non-ref 970 already at least RM 1500.

Oh man, so tempted to sell my newly purchased 760 for the 970.

Since the 960 has been delayed, I wonder if this is the best time to sell it.

Prices for 2nd hand 680/770 dropped to RM700 range and 290 to RM850 range in SG. 280x can now be purchased for as low as RM500 with 1 year warranty left in SG.

Cheapest 970 in SG is the Palit I believe after using discounts on Lazada.sg website.

That also comes to about RM1165 with 3 years warranty + free delivery in SG.

So tempted now to upgrade but I'm actually already happy with my 760 which will lose its value even more when the 960 comes out.

And I realised the 9xx series doesn't come with any games.

Actually looking at the 2nd hand prices, it's cheaper to SLI 770 or CF 280x compared to buying a new 970, but power consumption will be like shit.

I think is worth to sell your 760 for 970 if u wanna play higher resolution than 1080p. Indeed, power consumption is lower with new maxwell architecture.

Btw, u live i sg?

I only play in 1080 for the near future. Don't think I will up the res.

Yeah I work in SG.

Seems that GTX 970 got problem running in system with 32GB of ram.

Actually reading GeForce forums, seems like quite a few issues cropping up with stuttering and frame drops. Probably drivers not matured yet. Now I'm so reluctant to buy it sad.gif.

Wow that is cheap. 2 years warranty? Or 3?

Not much reviews available on Phantom GTX 970. Is their coolers any good?

If they are the same like the ones on the 7xx cards, they're not too bad. Being able to pull out the fans is a nice touch for cleaning I guess, but IMO it does make the card look ugly from the top.

Hmmm thinking of buying the Palit Jetstream GTX 970 actually. Card is shorter, fan is idle below 60°C. But seems common complaint is the coil whine issue of these cards. But got 3 years warranty.

Ordered the Palit GTX 970 Jetstream.

To be honest I think I was happy enough with the GTX 760 but I think I've been poisoned and just want more FPS sweat.gif

Wow prices of GTX 970 & 980 all increasing. While 290x dropping.

Thinking of selling my 280x as well and get another 970 before the 2nd hand prices dropped too low.

Better hang on to your 280x. Assuming you bought it a year ago for around RM1,100, I don't think the increase in performance justify you going through the trouble of selling the 280x and buying a new 970. You still can play games at full setting at 280x.
*
Got it 2nd hand at about RM750. But I guess you're right, it's still a pretty solid card.

Already sold my GTX 760 which I bought in September and then ordered the 970 which just arrived at my place a few hours ago, no time to test yet.

Not sure why but every time I try to scan for games on the geforce experience my windows freezes.

Update: My GTX 970 runs Dayz worse than my 280x. FFS!
