How does it actually work?
I didnt make any post/bump today.
But it asked me to bump tomorrow.
I only managed to use the bump feature successfully once in a week.

The bump button enforces a "once a day" bumping limit. It means that after a thread's last bump, you have to wait until 12:00AM on the next day before you can use it again.

A reply posted by yourself or another member to your thread is considered a bump for this calculation. Which is probably the confusing part.

The rationale behind it is that once someone posts to your thread, it is bumped up. It is therefore unnecessary to bump another time (with the bump button).

also, the bump button appears in other sections of the forum, and dont work, giving an error if i try clicking on it.

no way to make the bump button appear only in the trade zone?

That's to improve visibility of the bump button. Actually, it's because it's easier to code it that way Your suggestion will be considered. Really

Another thing I'd like to see gone from Garage Sales are the "courtesy messages" when PMing. E.g. "I sent you PM bro" and "I have replied all your PMs!". Given that we have a big fat pink notice at the top of the page, and email notifications.. it's just another piece of trash in our database. Sheesh.

so if someone posts a message at 12.01AM today,we wont be able to BUMP our thread later in the day?

yeah, was just curious whether it could be done. one problem about having all these hacks done to this install of the forum sofwtare... if u guys ever update to a newer version, reimplementing all these would be quite the headache.

Yes. I don't see this as a problem though. If someone else posts a message, then it must be directly related to the sale e.g. a question or an offer. So you are at liberty to reply to it any time later, and when you do, it's bumped up. Otherwise, if it's not directly related to the sale (e.g. "Wahhh I wish I have enough money to buy this "), then the post is offtopic and unnecessary (and can be reported for removal).

So, the system is biased towards popular items with higher posting activity.. but it works.. sorta

Details of our changes are documented, so at least we have something to look back to.
