QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Apr 3 2014, 06:26 PM) Haha, sorry. FD is Malaysian term for Fixed Deposit. CD is U.S. term for Certificate of Deposit which is same as FD. Dunno why I use the U.S. term, I should have said FD.So can ASN3 and ASG earn higher than FD rates and if yes, what is the average yrly rate ? I went to post office this afternoon and found the daily rates for ASG Sara, ASG Sihat, ASG Didik - so non-bumis can invest in these 3 funds ? But the buy/sell rate is a bit steep - 5%. |

QUOTE(davinz18 @ Apr 3 2014, 06:11 PM) Currently Only ASN3 & ASG funds are available to non-bumi. it's variable pricing fund juz like UT. Daily pricing can refer to ASNB website. Financial Year End: November 30 Historical Amanah Saham Nasional 3 (ASN3) Dividend Rate for past 5 years Net Distribution per unit (sen) 2009 - 7.00 2010 - 5.50 2011 - 6.00 2012 - 6.00 2013 - 6.30 Financial Year End: March 31 Historical Amanah Gemilang Pendidkan (ASG-P) Dividend Rate for past 5 years Net Distribution per unit (sen) 2009 - 5.50 2010 - 5.50 2011 - 5.60 2012 - 7.00 2013 - 7.10 Financial Year End: March 31 Historical Amanah Saham Gemilang Kesihatan (ASG-K) Dividend Rate for past 5 years Net Distribution per unit (sen) 2009 - 6.00 2010 - 6.00 2011 - 6.10 2012 - 7.10 2013 - 7.20 Financial Year End: March 31 Historical Amanah Saham Gemilang Persaraan (ASG-P) Dividend Rate for past 5 years Net Distribution per unit (sen) 2009 - 5.00 2010 - 5.00 2011 - 5.10 2012 - 7.05 2013 - 7.30 Basing on the most recent stats, looks like we should invet in ASG-P since it gives the highest rate, right ? When is dividend given out and how many times a year ? Is the price generally going up ? I see all the 3 ASG funds having more than 1.0000 rate and I supposed when it was launched that rate was 1.0000 but now, the rates are higher, e.g. ASG-P today's rate is 1.2268 / 1.2881. So does it mean not only we earn more than FD rate, we also earn from capital gains when the price increase ? |

For ASG Funds, how is the dividend computed ? If I buy on Dec 1, will I earn 4 mths interest paid on April 1 or the full 12 mths interest ?
ASG has 3 funds; if I want to invest in all 3 funds, do I have to open 3 separate accounts ? What docs needed to open account - just IC will do ? Can open ac 1st and later invest when funds are available or only can open ac when got funds for sale ? |

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Apr 3 2014, 10:10 PM) Dividend declare once a yr and pd on every 1st Apr Since ASG funds dividend paid on Apr 1st, better to buy end of Mar to get the full year's div on Apr 1, right ?Price movement is dependent on market value of equity n non equity For variable fund, yo returns = dividend + capital appreciation/depreciation Also many people will be selling their ASG after Apr 1 when they have got the yrly div, so better chance to buy ASG now, right ? |

QUOTE(Ancient-XinG- @ Apr 4 2014, 11:39 AM) asg is huge diff with other. I went to post office yesterday and saw the pricing of ASG written on a board as follows -if you want to buy, buy today. Because I see the increament of 0.01 per day since 1st April. I believe it will back to stable price which is 1.22 in few weeks. ASG Sara 1.2268 / 1.2881 <--- 5% margin between buy n sell rate ASG Sihat 1.1469 / 1.2043 <--- 5% margin between buy n sell rate ASG Didik 1.0745 / 1.1286 <--- 5% margin between buy n sell rate Anyone know if we can check the prices online ? Is the prices fixed for each day or varies throughout the day ? Since pricing is not fixed at 1.0000 like ASM or ASW2020 but much more than 1.0000, means effective rate we get is well below 7%, e.g. in year 2013 ASG Sara gives 7.2% dividend and since we buy at 1.2881, the effective rate we earn is 7.2/1.2881 = 5.59% - much less than the 6%+ we get from the fixed fund rate like ASW2020, ASM and AS1M. BTW, when we buy the fixed fund rate do we pay 1.05 or 1.00 per unit ? How can we invest using EPF fund since only need to pay 2% (or 3%) fee vs pay using cash ? |

QUOTE(davinz18 @ Apr 4 2014, 02:35 PM) ASG price can check at ASNB website. Normally it's fixed on Morning & will be same throughout the day . OK, we buy at 1.00 and sell at 0.95 ?fixed price fund, we pay 1.00 NOT 1.05/unit http://www.asnb.com.my/ shows today's prices. Is there a site where we can see historical prices...say every daily for the past 3 or 6 mths ? This post has been edited by topearn: Apr 4 2014, 03:38 PM |

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Apr 6 2014, 10:22 AM) ASM financial year end Mar 31. Since dividend computation based on min bal for each mth, we should bank in in 1st to maximize the dividend, right ? So bank in May 1 RM1,000 will earn 11 mths interest which will be paid on Mar 31, right ?If bank in another RM1,000 on June 1, this RM1,000 will earn 10 mths interest. right ? |

We only need 1 passbook to buy all the different funds like ASM, AS1M, ASW2020, ASG right ?
If yes, the entries will list what funds we have bought, right ? e.g. April 7 ASW2020 100 units April 10 ASM 400 units April 14 ASG-P 200 units Do we get a check for the dividend payments ? ASM financial year end is March 31. We get paid on March 31 or a few days later ? Can we asked a friend to topup for us ? This post has been edited by topearn: Apr 6 2014, 07:20 PM |

U mean, I can't even asked my brother to topup for me ?
I wonder why so strict ? It's not like I'm withdrawing money. They need to see your IC to topup to make sure U own the account ? |

QUOTE(PrincZe @ Apr 6 2014, 09:01 PM) sorry, i don't really think i understand. ASM financial year end is March 31, so if U deposit on 1st Mar RM1,000, your lowest bal for March is also RM1,000, so U will 1 mth interest for your RM1,000 deposit which will be credited to your ac on April 1.can i just say that, if i got extra money, no matter which date, but every month i'll bank in once rm200, then i would have best dividend rate + bonus? because i not sure...is there a trick to play with the date to bank in to benefit from the dividend? please kindly share with me But if U deposit on Mar 2nd onwards, your lowest balance is RM0, cos on Mar 1, your balance is RM0, so U do not earn any interest on your Mar 2nd RM1,000 deposit, even though ASN has the use of your RM1,000 for 30 days, from Mar2 - Mar 31. |

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Apr 7 2014, 08:58 AM) Not really true. The 200K limit refers to the maximum amount you can physically deposit into the account. That doesnt change. Once you reach that limit, you cannot pump in any more cash but you can accumulate dividends (unlimited). U mean for a guy who has deposited the max RM200K and after accumulating RM16K dividends, he then withdrew the entire RM216K. Thereafter he cannot deposit anymore cos he has deposited the max RM200K previously ? |

Is the dividend computation...which is based on min balance for each mth...the same for all the various types of funds like ASM, AS1M, ASW2020, ASG ?
I have yet to invest in any fund. to my understanding, it is very difficult for me to invest in ASM, AS1M and ASW2020 as I do not have an ac yet....at least for those who already have an ac, it is easier to ask the bank (MBB, CIMB, RHB) or post office staff to check if got funds available, and if ye, just simple matter of topping up; but for me without an ac yet....the staff might not want to go thr' the hassle of checking if got fund available and if yes, create ac ac for me...but by then the funds might already been taken up. So, I can only invest in ASG funds, right ? |

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Apr 7 2014, 09:42 PM) How is ASG dividend computed then, if not based on min balance for each mth ? Is ASG and ASN3 same method of dividend computation ?Anyway, would U agree that fixed funds (ASM, AS1M, ASW2020) are much better vs variable funds (ASG, ASN3) cos fixed funds do not have to pay the 5% sales fee ? 5% fee is a lot considering U only earn about 7% dividend on the variable fund....so U need almost a year just to recoop back the 5% paid ? |
