nice pics...i haven't tried using RAW feature with my e500 yet...love to try it...any good references/links/books for the workflow and techniques?

some pics just look nicer with noise...esp those with flat color and lack details and esp b/w pics...it kinda breaks it up a lil bit so your eyes don't get strain by looking at large spaces of flat color...
*

Thanks! biggrin.gif

IMO, It's a very good habit to shoot in RAW. My 1st few photos with the 350D is already in RAW, i just followed the manual provided by Canon then step by step learn to use it myself. smile.gif

It's pretty easy, I do not know about the E-500 though, but i think they should be the same. Just the layout of the software is different. Btw, you do know that you need a software to develop those RAW files right? For canon, the software is called "Digital Photo Professional 2.0" and there's another one which i do not use.

Adobe Photoshop has a way to process RAW files too, but i do not know how. It seems that you need a kind of plug-in for photoshop to do so. Hmmm... hmm.gif

edit: you can try use uncle google to search for ways to learn how to process RAW though. Hehe biggrin.gif

got any more pic to upload ? i like the pic of sky .. izzit you take it with filter or not ? And where you take all this pic and at what time ?

you skill getting pro and pro .. must learn from you after i get my DSLR .
*
currently now... because I do not have control over the 350D, it is not mine anyway... sad.gif And due to some reasons I don't think I will have a DSLR of my own too... sad.gif I took most of my pics at near my area. The name of the place is Desa Park City, Kepong. Currently under development. But you can stroll around the area as some parts of the place is already developed and there are people living there. And the best part about that place is its a good place for sunset photos or just plain shooting landscape. But opportunities are limited now as they start to fence some parts of the area. Currently looking for another good spot to take sunsets. ANy suggestions? In KL of course. smile.gif

Im not getting any better at my rate... Like i said I do not have control over the 350D... I usually take my pics during sunsets as lights are more beautiful that time. I've missed alot of good shots due the fact that I do not own a DSLR of my own... biggrin.gif

For photoshop CS2, u can use adobe bridge to process the raw files. I'm not sure default camera raw files support 350D raw files or not, but u can download latest adobe camera raw here. Installation instructions is provided. smile.gif

And furthermore today I've got to use the EF 50mm f/1.8II lens which is my bro's haha Images are definitely sharper than the 18-55 kit lens(duh)... Anyway, here are the pics.

Wah!! notworthy.gif very keng lens! are you pictures taken at high ISO, or you did sharpening on them?
*

Thanks smile.gif

I think the ISO that time is 200. It has a very wide aperture haha brows.gif did some minor sharpening using the high pass filter in CS2 though... smile.gif

Btw, do you see any problem with the pics? In terms of composition and stuffs? smile.gif

i am not a pro, just give my opinion: since i can see the pixels feel on your pics which i am not expected from the Canon(which well known for clean image) so i suspect you do sharpening or using high ISO.

i like pic #1 , #2 , and #7. very nice compositions! rclxms.gif i can see the powerful of the lens from pic #1 and #2. Really easy to outstand the theme. btw #7 is the kenari headlamps? how you do the cross lines effect?

#3. and #6 a bit mess to me, hardly tell the theme of your pics.

#4 not bad, but i prefer can zoom a bit more if can.

#6 over exposed on white flower, lower down Ev should help.
*
Thanks smile.gif Most of the pics are cropped, that's why you can see those pixels... sad.gif I did some sharpening in cs2.

For pic 7 i used the "Texture > Grain", under the 'Grain type' option, use vertical, then set the intensity and contrast you desired. Yeah, its the headlamps of my Kenari biggrin.gif

The range of 50mm lens is not that great. I have to crop the image alot. And the image size is medium. Should have shot them in RAW doh.gif

Thanks for your views man. Thank you smile.gif

Okay, went out to just do some point and shoot, still in the "testing" level of the D70s here smile.gif frankly im very very happy with the quality of the pictures it takes, I love to shoot RAW and i tend to "edit" most of my pics alot. But I could never see this kind of quality in the 350d. About quality, i am not talking about the composition, im talking about the quality of the picture - the sharpness! smile.gif

Now here's some shot that i took with my new lil monster biggrin.gif

Stupid SCREAMyx is creating problems while uploading! I'll post some tomorrow... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Note that most of the original pics here that i took are quite "underexpose", I have to retouch them in Picture Project... anyone here knows how to fix that? =/ what things that i need to check inside the camera menu? =/ I've checked the readings. Exposure was never extra or insufficient... Any tips? Im using the "custom" settings in the optimize image menu... There's still some things about the nikon that i need figuring out and ill learn that in time.

Thanks for viewing and taking the time to read my questions... smile.gif

if dun shoot in RAW, then you wont get the chance to edit your pic like what u did anymore. What u shoot is what u get. smile.gif If you edit then it will run off the mark abit... too under or too over... smile.gif

Can give it a try one day le.. shoot only JPG mode and see whether u can get use to it or not... If not, shoot back in RAW. smile.gif notworthy.gif try everything u can with the camera, do some settings up... tongue.gif
*
yeah i know what'll happen if i dont shoot raw, just that when shooting in jpeg, i muz make sure that it's the right settings/exposure. I find that hard for me to do biggrin.gif im using the matrix metering... have yet to try out spot metering and center-weight(is this what's it called?) laugh.gif

That's what newbies are told ... shoot in RAW. Nobody wanna learn how their camera works anymore, just shoot and post process later. Forever 30% Skill and 70% PC Work, spend 6 hours shooting and 48 hours touching up tongue.gif

no no no, you dont understand, it was ok when i tried shooting jpeg file with the 350d, but for the nikon its different ¯\(¯A¯)/¯
