if you don't want to wait til you got go to kl, you may redeem for parkson/mydin cash vouchers at any parkson or mydin outlets (which can be commonly found in almost all states in malaysia).

use mbb2amex for petrol (petronas or bhp) and groceries (tesco) in the weekends (saturday and sunday) and receive 5% cash rebate + 5x treat points. if you use mbb2amex on weekdays (monday to friday) you only get 5x treat points. the other mbb2visa only give you 1x treat point on any day. that's all.

most bhp automated fuel dispenser may not accept amex. but some bhp do accept amex at the cashier. others like petronas and tesco should be no issue for you.

but usually we will wait until we receive our statement, then we will pay before the due date (20 days from the statement date).
