Not really, once shown on system, you have to apply to change it. But so far any merchant that accept Visa will accept Mastercard also.
And once you got this combination, you will be using AMEX most of the time only unless they are not accepting AMEX.

does it matter so much to you whether it's a mastercard or visa? i think when you get the card, you will be using amex more instead of mastercard or visa (for maximum benefits).

anyway, if that really matters, you may call the cs and request them to change the visa to mastercard saying that you did mentioned during your application that you wanted for a mastercard instead of visa.

for your information, there is no difference between mastercard and visa because both are widely accepted. the difference are mainly on exclusive promotion done by mastercard or visa. for example, get 10% discount on agoda with visa on wednesday or get 10% discount on universal studio sg entrance ticket with mastercard (previous promo).

Thanks for the advice!

As I mentioned earlier I already have MB visa debit so I prefer to have mastercard instead for the extra flexibility. Amex will be the top priority of course but unfortunately not many places I frequent accept Amex cry.gif

Just called CS and she said I need to submit the change form at MB branch. vmad.gif why they can't just do it over the phone

Hi,

Just got my maybank 2 cards

Wanna ask about the 5% cash back on weekend for Unifi / Digi bills. If i apply for auto-pay for the bills, do i can 5% cash back? Or must i pay manually over the web during weekend to earn the 5% cash back? Paying school fees eg KDU college for my sister can get cash back also? (i knew it only earn 2x rewards point).

Thanks~!

auto-pay or not..as long it fall on weekend then yes, 5% cash back..
since auto pay not necessary fall on weekend, so pay manually better...

as for paying school fees, yes, you will get 5% cashback provided they accept amex and payment make on weekend smile.gif

Changing the card in actual is like cancel your current card and apply for a new card. They are doing this to make your life "harder" it seems, but this si to protect you against potential fraud.

Don't do direct debit and pay on weekends. Might be tedious but this is to ensure you get that 5% CB icon_rolleyes.gif

did you request for balance transfer/installment plan or etc?
is this mbb2card or just stand alone visa platinum?
*
Hi,

Yes this was it! I indeed applied for a balance transfer of RM2K... 3% which would be RM60!

But i don't see the credit amount of 2k yet though...

except for Celcom because u can get 5% discount of total bill charged when u subscribe for auto-payment with Amex CC.
u still get the same amount of cashback, without affecting your cashback limit biggrin.gif

I just published my article titled A Little Bit Of this and A Little Bit Of That - Vol.1, Chapter IV.

In this article, the matters I touched on relating to credit cards are:

1. Overseas Transactions Maybank 2 Cards Premier AMEX Reserve versus Maybank Visa Infinite. Like my Maybank 2 Platinum AMEX, once again my Maybank 2 Cards Premier AMEX Reserve gave me a lower conversion fee compared to my Visa Infinite.

2. Maybank 2 Cards and Maybank 2 Cards Premier Supp Card Approval time at The Gardens Mid Valley. It seems nowadays Maybankard Centre will only approve new Maybankard 2 Cards applications within 2 hours on weekdays if one applies before 7pm.

3. Agoda Wednesday Discount with Visa.

For those not into reading my article, here is the Agoda VISA Wednesday info:

Booking Period for the 12% Discount on Wednesday with VISA:
2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 April 2014.
7, 14, 21 and 28 May 2014.
4 June 2014

However, the stay period is only until 31st December 2014. This means that if you book the hotel room for 1st January 2015 onward, you won't be entitled for the 12% discount.
