You gain some and lose some lor
Generally this generation of City change is relatively the same rclxub.gif
More like a big facelift than an all new model to me
*
if youre looking at an outlook change and yes it does look like a facelift as it looks very similar to the current generation. But deepdown, the shell has been revamped with diff curvatures but doesnt look too different. The chasis and wheelbase was restructured too with longer wheelbase and wider chasis so that is definately not a minor facelift. The interior designs all are different including the dashboard. I would say from the skin, it looks like the current generation but deep down its a major revamp but i think Honda might want to ride to the success wave of the current gen City and made their designs similar. Cant blame Honda since the current generation City was being popular until Japanese also demanded for the City to be sold there, hence the coming City will be sold in Japan with the Hybrid variant in place.

IMO, i still prefer the current City outlook though. The coming one seems abit tad weird, not sure is the grill or something. laugh.gif

*
SA confirmed that and all variant in Thailand from hight to lowest spec is rear drum.

I think GM is the engine model.

So now I know is 5G. Haha.
*
GM is the chasis model .. just like previous gen civic is FD andd current gen civic is FB, The 5-speed City is GM.

QUOTE(minizian @ May 5 2014, 09:07 AM)
Is it tru that ppl ask me not to play with the manual mode in the 5 speed city? Apparent if played to much the gear box will kaput and i told me better leave it on auto mode instead of self change the gear.... icon_question.gif
*
played with it all the time since i got my car, i dun see any problems in the gb ... the old first gen auto gearbox is prone to this, but nowadays the newer auto g.b are quite rigid.

Correct me if i'm wrong. As far as i know, HC from year 2009 to 2013 is 5G or in Malaysia is 3G.
I am not sure about the GM
*
Yup about right. Ok lets do some sharing on the City history line.

First generation (1981–1986) City AA/FV/FA
This generation of City looks very similar to a Kancil. And the chasis codes detonates it as sedans AA. vans FV and cabriolet FA. Not officially sold in Malaysia

Second generation (1986–1994) City GA1/GA2
Second generation where only 3door hatchbacks are available which GA1 is pre FL and GA2 as FL. Not officially sold in Malaysia
It is after this generation Honda Fit was born as a seperate line from City.

Third generation (1996–2002) City SX8
Codenamed as SX8 but chassis model is officially called as 3A2(1.3cc)/3A3(1.5cc) which is based on EK civic platform. First official Honda City sold in Malaysia. Later facelifts called this city as Honda City Type-Z. Malaysians would call this as Malaysia 1G

Fourth generation (2002–2008) City GD8/GD9
The most famous generation of City in Malaysia i would say which is based on the Honda Jazz GD1/GD2. With Facelifted on 2005 which was commonly called as City ZX. Malaysians would call this as Malaysia 2G

Fifth generation (2008–2013) City GM2/GM3
The 5-speed City which replaced the City ZX as we can see on the roads now. GM2 is 1.5 and GM3 is 1.8 which China Honda City gets. Malaysians would call this as Malaysia 3G

Sixth generation (2014-present) City
The newly launched City

Hope this will clear some confusion though.

Guys,

I bought my City last year June, so insurance renewal has strikes me now.
I'm under Tokio Marine insurance (I think it's covered in HIP).

Bought the car at RM86k E spec, but now after 1 year, the insurance statement shows that:
Indicative Market Value: RM79,000
Policy Sum Insured: RM88,000
Premium Payable: RM1,750

I've read somewhere that you can't claim more than your car market value, so the statement is already over insured?
The market value I think also over valued, shouldn't it be -15% off purchase price?
*
get Honda Insurance Package, u get full value claim in 5 years from your car manufactured year.

RM200 OEM Nissin
RM280 HONDA Nissin

price include installation. usually around RM30-50 installation.

price quoted was before GST implimented. Now should be slightly more expensive maybe.

I saw ppl said d ori one comes with anti squeek oil...
Means no oil will squeek for sure?
Or a marketing gimmik?
*
ori pads from Honda comes with the new metal shims and grease.

the grease is needed so that when the pads are used up or uneven it doesn't produce any high pitch noise. It is normal for service centers to apply the grease when changing the pads. For Honda case, their parts comes with the grease and there are instructions to use the grease. But some other Car-makers, their same ori parts might not come with the grease but they have their heavy duty grease to swipe to the pads when they change it.

If you plan to change to pads that doesnt come with the grease, just make sure when installing it. Ask the person to apply heavy duty grease on the edges of the pads, usually if the mechanic is competent they will know where to apply. The thing is most of them just ignore doing it as its a hassle plus you wouldn't notice the pitch sounds when it is new. Why bother ?
