Looks like no one's started this thread, so I decided to share this rare gem


Q: This looks so boring! A text-based game would look worse than the silliest Facebook/ Flash games I might come across!
Agree, it looks boring at first glance; I had the same impression when I first read it in a copy of PC Gamer Malaysia. However, it becomes intriguing as you learn on levelling up your gangster, choosing a family to join, meeting new accomplices and most importantly, becoming a famous Don.

Q: So what makes it interesting that those dime a dozen Facebook games? This reminds me of the old Mafia Wars we saw on Facebook. Daily routines, commit crimes, level up, it's the same shit we see!
It's not about the graphics, it's about the gameplay it offers.

Mafia Wars was released in 2011 while Omerta was released in 2005. The former shut down due to poor reception but the latter has been staying strong over the years due to the strong fanbase. Why is that so? Here's why:
•You can commit the activities the mafias do in the 1930's; petty crimes, nick cars, smuggle drugs, bust inmates out and many more. You can also buy cheap booze and narcotics in a city, wait for the prices to rise or travel to another city and sell them for profit.



•Concerned about your safety? Join a family! Benefits range from monetary rewards for ranking up to protection against external threats. Of course you don't be trigger-happy shooting about without informing your leader on whom to shoot at. Or else...



•Have a grudge against someone? Face problem? Grab your weapons and ammunitions, hire detectives to locate the scumbag and travel to the city and open fire! But wait, he/ she may fire in retaliation or belong to another family or both, so ensure that you're fully armed and dangerous beforehand!


•Short on cash? Try your luck by gambling at the casinos! Or maybe invite your buddies for heists, organized crimes or raids! Or if you want the surefire way, deposit those dollars in the bank for interests!




•Of course you won't necessarily go off scot-free. Enforcers can bust you red-handed. Fret not, you can either stay in the slammer until your time is up or just bribe your way out!
