Minix's forum is undergoing some maintenance and that could explain the whole database error it keeps throwing. Glad you managed to sort it all out in the end. That feeling of success when the box works the way you want it to...

. I used to have an X7, so here are the steps to the best of my knowledge.
1. Go to videos in the home screen menu and select “Files”.
2. Select “Add Videos” and “Browse” in the add video source.
3. Browse to the folder where your media files are stored locally or on an external drive. If your files are located on a network attached storage, you will need to add the SMB or NFS share from the NAS server.
4. Rename the media source, if needed (I recommend this to keep things organized), and select “OK”.
5. In the set content window, you can set the type of media. Kodi will automatically scrape the movie, TV show, or music information after you have set up the media content.
6. If your movies are located in separate folders, enable “Movies are in separate folders that match the movie title”.
7. Confirm Yes in the Change content question.
8. Now, you can go back to main menu where you will find the new “Movies” menu with your recently added movies.
If you wish to check for new media files on Kodi startup, go to System > Settings > Video > Library and enable “Update library on startup”. You can also select “Hide progress of library updates” if you do not wish to see the progress indicator every time the library gets updated.
Here's another nice tip..You should take the time to rename movie folders with correct titles and year of release to avoid wasting time & downloading incorrect covers. Or better still, manage covers, fanarts, disc logos, trailers and infos locally using a media manager, then asking KODI to use "Local information only" during videos location setup as above.
Thanks for the tips. Will be trying it out tonight. I just need to tinker around more to get acquainted with this program just like any others. That's how we all learn anyways.
I've just learned how to add IPTV Stalker and am now watching some Live US TV channels. Pretty good resolution in SD although not in HD and no buffering at all. Youtube is our bestest friend and thanks to a large XBMC fan base. Lots of tutorials out there. Just need a bit of work digging the correct on out.
I'd say XBMC is not for those that's afraid of learning new platform/softwares. XBMC is all about exploration and that's half of where all the fun is.
on their Android devices? I've just installed it on my Samsung Note 8 and it's working beautifully except for the subtitle downloading isn't working. Other than that, awesome. Cool to have a Home Media Centre on your phone. It's like a dream.
