QUOTE(Juztiny @ Apr 8 2008, 10:26 AM) To keep a Cockatiel, need to apply license or not? Usually when people apply licence is for one bird one licence or one licence to cover all birds? hi juztiny, nope u dont need a license to keep a cockatiel.. no, its depends on what bird..so meaning..1 bird for each species..or each bird.. |

QUOTE You must teach me how you handfeed your cockatiels.... Do you? I got a normal grey pair... quite useless in breeding coz they never feed their young properly, 3 times I tried and 3 times ended up with dying chicks. One I handfed but my homemade formula wasn't right. yeah sure..what do you use for ur handfeeding formula crazymouse? QUOTE Definitely I want to give him a proper cage, but don't want to rush for it first, as now my house is shortage of storage space to keep unused cage. yeah, very nice bird below are some pics of my male budgie..just wanted to share.. QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Apr 15 2008, 11:27 AM) Erm.... I used some egg powder I got from Australia, mixed with water, jar babyfood and crushed pellets from my cockatiel mix. It was a desperate attempt to save a chick, which I raised till 2 weeks old... then I had to go away for a day so my bro help me jaga but it died pulak... really sad. okay, what i use is..i'll go Tesco and get a baby food called hartz baby food..theres afew variety of it..there's (red box labeling - plain rice, there's blue box labeling - rice and banana, and another one is yellow..which i cant remember the flavour..) the cost of each box in tesco is very cheap compared to other places..its only below rm 5 in tesco..the reason im using this "hartz" brand is becos, that is the only brand i find that is WITHOUT ANY MILK MIXTURE in it.. (birds cant digest well to milk and chocolate..so they'll die) ..you get that, and a bottle of "gerber" baby food..i usually get apple flavour..then mix them together..not to cair and not to pekat.. just nice as if u want to feed a baby..and also..the MOST IMPORTANT is NOT TOO HOT..test it on ur hand 1st..if its too hot, then ur chick will get "crop Burn" (where its crop will burn resulting from too hot food) and u might want to get a syringe(WITH OUT NEDDLE) the ones usually parents gives their small children syrup medicine..they are a few sizes..go to any pharmacy..it ranges from afew cents to a few ringgit..that doesnt matter..u get all the stuff above..then u're are ready. Now my female keeps popping eggs..... one egg every week! But there is no matings.... and I got no nest box so I have no idea why she keeps laying eggs. I also got a pied white face female, thinking of breeding but then I scared tak jadi again.... Pied whiteface? wow one question..do you remove the egg she pops? well, if you do this..u'll encourage her to pop more eggs..and ending up getting "egg Binding" egg bingding is a penyakit where the female lay too many eggs after one breeding season after another..and ending up lacks of calcium..where the egg in her tummy is too soft to even pass out..do provide them with alot of cuttlebone (tulang sotong) for calcium..(most bird shop sells them..tell me if u cant find them) when ur female lays eggs without mating is normal..every female will eventually lays eggs when she is mature.. just dont remove the eggs that she lays, eventually she''ll get bored and leave them..then only u remove them.. ps:go to www.birdforum.com.my theres alot things u could learn there.. just wanted to share.. and finally GOODLUCK! Added on April 15, 2008, 11:58 am QUOTE(Juztiny @ Apr 15 2008, 10:45 AM) This picture reminds me of Tom the cat and Tweetie bird cartoon. Wow, you budgie is not afraid of the cat, and your cat won't attack the bird? This post has been edited by azrada: Apr 15 2008, 11:58 AM |

QUOTE(cmyap @ Apr 15 2008, 12:44 PM) I heard if you pair 1 male and 1 female Budgerigar together, if 1 of them die, the second 1 will die also. not really though..actually its all myth..it actually depending on individual bird it self..i heard of it too..but somehow this is hard to say..cos i used to have a bonded budgie..when the female died..the male is stil okay..the yellow one in the pic..thats when i started to tame him..QUOTE hi....thnx for the info..yeah..i wud appreciate it very much if u cud help me get a young english budgie..btw,just curious...can a conure talk?please tell me when we can go hunt for my english budgie..oh ya...btw...do you know around how much does it cost?Looking forward to hearing from you conure can talk..but they are not known for talking..they are very very playfull..yeah sure..no problems..where do u live? im not sure about how much are they..but all i know they'll cost you above rm100 each.make sure u make some research about eng budgie too.. QUOTE Hi All Bird Enthusiast , this is my 1st reply in this forum after few months here. I always read through your posting but never leave any message here. Nice to meet all of you here. hey! welcome!! QUOTE I'm a new bird owner... erm.... actually i rescued a pigeon with a broken wing who got snapped by my dog... unfortunately she didn't die, n i feels so guilty, therefore i took her in.... i've try to find a vet who will attend to her, but never found one who accept bird as their client.. now she had already staying with me for 1 month and she still can't fly i wonder how long will a pigeon live... i know a avian doctor in UPM, serdang..if u happen to go there..go to the vet clinic and ask for dr.jalilah..maybe she can help u out..pigeon can be tame if there r properly kept..about how long they can live..im not sure..why dont u google it? anyways, goodluck.. QUOTE Azrul..actually this is not my 1st time owning a bird...i used to own a cockatiel...i got it from my friend.I got it from about 3weeks old...i hand-fed the birdie..Then one day my son took it out of the cage to play with it...put him on the shoulder, suddenly it flew away and never came back....soo sadd So,i dont think i wanna get another cockatiel..bad memories. So,when can ww go and look for the Budgie? oic...u didnt clip it wings? im free on friday..is it okay? u can contact me at This post has been edited by azrada: May 5 2008, 11:03 PM |

QUOTE(Juztiny @ Apr 16 2008, 01:40 PM) What kind of cage is suitable for Cockatiel? I saw many people keep their Cockatoos leg tied on to the wood, and no need cage. Does Cockatiel also need to do that? juztiny..a big no no for tying them on the t-stand..my point of view..tying ur bird to the t stand only "menyeksa" or "mendera" the bird..they cant even hardly move freely..i advice you to get cage..square kind of cage.. you can go to pet safari in ikano power centre to get one..its only rm60 plus..This post has been edited by azrada: Apr 16 2008, 01:50 PM |

QUOTE(Juztiny @ Apr 16 2008, 02:20 PM) Thanks for the advice. Ya...I have 2 cages (around 3'W x 1.5' Dx 1.5'H) available which are suitable for keeping love birds or finches kind. So wondering is it suitable? Is there any specific size needed for Cockatiel? I read from bird forum, some people put Canary together with Cockatiel in a big cage, I am considering this. i once kept my budgie together with my tiel..i think it shud be alright..all i know, lovebirds are the ones suka kacau other bird..i think the cage u have shud be alright....about the big cage..y dont u do a small aviary for ur birds? bird the one u getting from david is a tame one right?QUOTE Basically most of the people prefer to keep the Cockatiel inside the steel cage and seldom tie them. Pls dont keep them inside the bamboo cage or else your bamboo cage will damage by them. hehe... yeap this true..i dulu pernah keep my tiel in a bamboo cage..but then the tiel gigit one of the bamboo cage bar until it almost broke....lol. Added on April 16, 2008, 4:18 pm QUOTE(sammy1 @ Apr 16 2008, 02:03 PM) yeah..im free this friday too...im off...nanti i'll sms u and check the plan ok...have you called the breeder or yr contact? got young budgie or not?will chat thru sms later...thnx okay no problem..no la i did not..we just go there and see.if got then u buy k..This post has been edited by azrada: Apr 16 2008, 04:18 PM |
