I have no experience in keeping birds, thinking of getting one, maybe budgie or cockatiels, heard my friend told me that Cockatiels are tamer than budgie, he keeps a pair or africa grey parrot at home.

should i buy 1, or a pair? i m afraid sometime when it's boring, at least there's a companion, and can i hang the cage in front of my house, at night need to use cloth cover it right?

i saw the pet shop near my place selling budgie but not tiels, where to get tiels huh?

i m staying @ puchong

Companion birds should be kept indoor and provide them with lots of out of cage time. The cage must be reasonable spacious not those hanging types.
Most people don't treat birds well. Birds are one of most badly abused pets. Most are caged in tiny cages for life and are fed with only seeds or pellets.

If you are getting hand fed budgies or cockatiels, both are equally tame. Companion birds need lots of interaction with their caretakers. You have to do more research if you are able to give the kind of care to the birds.

You need to recall train the bird. Once the bird can fly to you on command, the bird won't fly away.

Hey guys,

Where can I find spray millet and pellets suitable lovebirds? I've been to 1U/The Curve/TTDI Pet Shop/Taman Megah Pet Shop and no luck. Also best place to find toys?

The pet shops I went to were really limited, and had almost nothing!

The normal millets and spray millets are the same. Learn how to sprout. Sprouted food are way more better than pellets. I don't feed my parrots pellets. I feed them plenty of fresh food. I sprout mung beans, millets and winter wheat. Lovebirds like to eat sprouts, apple, kangkung and sweet corn. For protein and fat, I give them a little sunflower seeds and hemp seeds in the evening. I have a cup of millet 24/7.

I chopped banana leaves or ginger leaves or petai branches with leaves for them to forage. These are my toys for them.

You can find toys at Pets Wonderland at Mid Valley. Spray millet is also available there but it is very expensive. I packet is more than RM10. I bought mine at a bird shop at Ampang for less than RM4. I use spray millet as treat to train my parrots.
