Aha! I managed to tame the new Cockatiel. See the picture. Seem like quite easy to tame actually. No regrets in buying these untamed birds. May be it's because I have a tamed Cockatiel to set the example, they all followed to trust me.

Wow, congrats! Yah, I think it is coz you have already a cockatiel that trust you, so the lutino also follow. What great luck you have.
Now my tiels got 4 eggs.... I gave my female a box already and let her sit on them. So far so good, so hope I can see baby tiels soon and hope this time successful.
*
Wishing you all the best this time around. smile.gif

Actually handfeed chicks very tiring..... sweat.gif If just fed them nestum and babyfood, every 2 hours they will cry for food. If fed with dogfood mixed with babyfood, they will cry for food after 4-5 hours.

Lol, grr. Since you enjoy traveling to various pet shops, have you came across one which sells a good variety of bird cages? smile.gif
*
I saw one small petshop in Giant Taman Connaught, has several bird cages. One bird cage cost RM80 which is around 2.5' x 2.5'. But purple in colour. One of my earlier bird cage before this version I bought from there too, is around RM45 only.

I just checked the eggs.... this time only 1 egg is fertile while the rest I cannot see any blood veins.... the 1 egg has a dark shadow and can see blood veins everywhere. Cross my fingers smile.gif

How do you see from the egg? Using torch light to shine through?

Yups, using a torch light. I also do that to check my leopard gecko eggs that way too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cages, these days not many petshops stock on bird cages coz they require space to keep and also money. Sometimes those old kinda shops have humid and wet storage, so it can cause rust as well. So these days good cages need to order. Those I meant by big ones that sometimes need stands lah.

If wanna see those that are displayed, I think Pet Safari got some nice ones.

If you go Petaling Street, can always ask. One shop owned by a guy there(not zoological pets) got a brochure on his table. You can see clear pics and order.

In fact you can also go to http://www.trendy-pet.com can download the catelog too. But I guess those are high end quality one, stainless steel also have.

Oh..ya I saw in Macaw Trading that day have a pair of African Grey selling for RM4k.

where i can get pekin robin?
love this bird
*
Today my Pekin Robin finally open its mouth and sing continuously , very lovely sound. Since my Sharma died, I put my Pekin Robin into Sharma cage, I think he likes it there, more spacious for it to fly around and could prevent it to knock around the cage.

I bought mine in Sg. Petani, Kedah. I don't mind to buy additional one if you found which KL shops do sell this bird.

me from kedah
thats nice
will hunt for that bird
its  good bird
like to flip and very good singer...
the colour also nice
how much?
And what shop is it?
*
The shop is along the Jalan Pekan Baru in Sg Petani. I didn't observe the shop name. It is stand alone on the road, selling pottery plants as well. RM250 each. I bought in early May, that time still have another one Pekin Robin in the shop. I regretted that I didn't "sapu" all, because my car was lack of space, further more I didn't get to hear the other sing.

Anyone knows how to determine my Lutino Cockatiel (named Morning) is male or female? It didn't close to my Hello and very shy, always hide at a corner.

Actually I'm very curious to know, when they came to your house, did they show you that they have a warrant to go into your house and search? I believed we have the right to refuse them to enter our home if they do not have a warrant right?

basically they must have a warrant but for me to let them in is to let them to issue some licenses for my birdies, u get what i mean?
*
But why can't they issue you a compound and licenses there and then? To confiscate and have to bring them back to office more troublesome in terms of documentation and procedure, isn't it? I really doubtful they have the plan to return them to you.

Pekin Robin... my uncle used to have one many many years ago... that time he also bought it for like Rm30 plus.. it was common that time I think.... not so sure... that was like 10 years ago. My memory also a bit fuzzy hahaha.... but now, once things are rare, price increase. Like cockatiels, petshops used to sell them for RM50 to Rm70 each, now RM140 to Rm180 loh.

Your lutino looks like a male.... the red cheek patch is quite bright. Listen to it whistle and sing. Females normally don't sing or whistle but just make a lot of chirpy noise....
*
Oh..then my normal grey is definitely male too, that's why they are not close to each other. And my normal grey like to make the "wee-o-wee" whistle sound to attract our attention. Hahaha....my whole cage are male then, hopefully not a big problem, as my 2 budgies also male. Btw I bought my Lutino Cockatiel for RM110.

Haahah... great that you got males, more vocal. Till today, I have not heard much sound from my female other than hissing at me and soft chirping during matings LOL.

RM110 is a good price. Jealous lah, I also want a lutino LOL.... but after the eggs hatch first.... I think another 2 weeks to go.

Oh, the longish cage you showed earlier.... I saw yesterday Pet Family has a few for sale, RM80 only.
*
Anyway I dared not think of breeding any birds lah...hand feeding chicks are so troublesome. No more for me next time!

tot of hand feed my lovebirds if hatches.
but scare no time la.

i think ur tiel is male la.
but got some female got good vocal u know.
just my 2cents!!
*
Cannot go anywhere, every 4-5 hours need to feed them. And this will take as long as 3-4 months. Luckily I have a maid to do that for me, and I still can go out. But once she is feeding the birds, we have to wait for at least 1 hr for her to finish the feeding then only can assign her to do other task.

Here is my Hello Cockatiel funny act in chasing the computer mouse cursor. Some pictures below were taken when I brought him to a pet gathering. Everyone enjoyed playing him.
