Trying to free up my C drive.

Saw these

Java 7 Update 25
jave Update 45
java™ 6 Update 7
Java ™ 6 Update 39

OK to uninstall the 2 java 6 updates?

P/S My C drive has been set by Dell when I bought it at 60 GB. Possible to increase it to say 100 GB by reducing the D drive? How?

Noted and many thanks.

Biggest folders/files in my C drive are as below.

Is 32 GB occupied by Windows Vista normal? If so, then no need to try to trim this folder.

What is pagefile.sys? Can be deleted? Or reduced? How?

I will try to trim my user folder.

Many thanks.

Cheerio.

P/S Did some checks on the web. Vista is supposed to take up about 15GB but in practice, 32 GB! Lousy system.

it takes above 15gb because of system updates and system restore points.
go search on how to reduce "system restore" space. put 5% already more than enough to me

pagefile.sys can be set from this place:
right click my computer, properties, advanced tab, 1st setting button, avdanced tab, change button.
untick automatic then u can adjust yourself. i recommend 300-500mb if pc has enough ram like 4gb above.
if u turn off pagefile windows will crash after ram are all used up.

want more space? go add/remove programs section. look LEFT SIDE there will have "manage windows features".
disable the unnecessary add-on

Another way to frees up your HDD space:
1. if you never use hibernation: launch command prompt with admin privilege, type powercfg -h off to turn off hibernation, because the hiberfil.sys file size is same your system RAM size.
For slow system, wake up from hibernation is faster than cold boot though.
2. Right clikc your C: drive > properties > clikc the "disk clean-up> clean up system files > tick all files to delete > OK > junks clean tongue.gif

Tried to shrink D drive and use the freed space for C drive.

Shrinked 500 MB (as my first trial) from D drive. But when I tried to extend C drive, it says only 50 MB is available.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks.
