Hi guys, I find folding bikes a little weird with their small wheels and funny frame design, until I found this:
http://www.electroboard.biz/rangerx.htm
Normal price is supposed to be RM6k+ but sometimes I see in the papers they have 70% discount and they go for RM1900.00.
I used to be a mountain biker but I am new to folding bike stuffs. So just wanna ask if this is a good bike and if anyone has the specs of the bike.
Is this really selling for rM1900 from RM6K+ and is this price worth it?

Thanks in advance guys!

Thanks for the feedback. Just as I thought, it is too good to be true that the price can be slashed from 6k to 2k.
But are you sure the bike retails for only RMB500. That is like only RM250. You mean just the frame or the entire bike?
I believe this kind of frame rolls out by the tens of thousands from the same factory in China to be rebranded by the respective companies. There are Hummer, Land Rover, and Montague, to speak of a few.

This kind of design was initially designed for military use, or so it seems...

Nowadays a full suspension MTB with good specs and frame will set you back at least RM5k. RM3k would probably get you a hardtail with good specs. RM2k wouldn't get you very far biggrin.gif
But I like the novelty of the bike being able to fold and it is much easier to store and lug around. Plus I kinda like this design.

bro, saw the same advert.

my advise if you want to spend that amount of money is to get the real thing - montague.

or.. settle for the china hummer copies. full size 26 speed going for approx 1k now.

Hi bro, thanks for the information. This is really helpful thumbup.gif
The montague is a little pricey though hmm.gif

you are paying for quality or you wan to pay for a disappointment?
*
Well,it really depends if the quality of the Montague is so great over the Hummer that it justifies the price difference of being 4x higher.
Unless the frame of the Hummer turns out to be rickety, then I gues a frame is just a frame and for the price difference, the amount can be used to upgrade to much better components on the Hummer.
I believe we are paying more for the brand rather than the difference in quality for the Montague. Sure it might be better in quality, but is it that much better?

importantly is the materials used to construct it.

I think someone on this forum had the Hummer, and the connector post bends as the material used is not as durable.

Generally, i reckon the price difference means:
- better parts , or at least better machined
- non hollow parts (where it is not meant to be hollow)
- lighter bike that you are more likely to use vs a hulking heavyweight

just my two cents worth.
tbh, i was eyeing the hummer too as im just a very casual cyclist (round the condo grounds haha) smile.gif

Yup, the design and materials used do make a difference but I don't think any foldie can withstand the rigours of hardcore mountain biking. The folding joint will always be the weak point.
I am not thinking of any hardcore MTB action. Maybe just some mild ones on dirt trails. But the reason I want a foldie is because it is convenient to chuck into the car and bring it to the park to cycle with the family biggrin.gif

Thanks for the comparison of the Hummer and Montague. At least we know now that the Hummer is not an utterly hopeless bike biggrin.gif

RM6K for the RangerX is indeed a load of BS. That is why they are selling it for 2K only actually.
The specs should be slightly better than the Hummer though, and it is full suspension.
