I went to 2 bike shop in Penang near Sunrise/sunshine bayan baru. They told me Dahon Speed p8 cannot mod. its RD and FD true ah?

Thanks bro..i need mod to climb hills. yeah..it will be good if situ etigge can share the mod on his speed:P and he was right, no one in Penang can mod dahon.

Anyone participate the 56th Merdeka ride a.k.a Second Penang bridge ride organised by Bicycle town pg?

Just came back from the media visit at the 2nd bridge and the JKSB (highway concessionaire) said it would be held approx. two weeks from now [either in the middle of next month or April]. After the launching ceremony on March 1 by pakjib.

Yup..they cannot do it as the bridge is yet under the LLM. They need to get the clearance from LLM first. Same like u buying a house, u cannot enter before getting the CF kan.

I am a reporter and this is the first hand information from the JKSB managing director. He told me this when I asked him about the event.

FRIM under highway threat

KUALA LUMPUR: The largest and oldest man-made tropical forest in the world is under threat by a proposal to build an elevated highway across it, said Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) director-general, Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod on Saturday.

“We will fight to the end against such a move, which is detrimental for the many endangered plant species within the grounds.

“If this buffer zone for endangered plant species is damaged, where else can we keep them? FRIM is a national and natural heritage and any threat to it must be fought,” he told reporters after a media appreciation ceremony on Saturday.

Dr Abd Latif said the issue first arose when he was approached by a group, whom he declined to name, in February last year, suggesting that FRIM be “split in half” for the highway construction.

He said that this could be because FRIM, which spans 544.3ha, was under single ownership after receiving its freehold land title from the Selangor government in 2007, making it easier for negotiations.

“But they forget that FRIM is now under Selangor and not Kuala Lumpur. Selangor is a state that does not allow logging because it depends on business and commercial activities (for income),” he said.

Dr Abd Latif said they had assumed the proposal was set aside after FRIM handed the group a petition which showed 99% of its personnel were against the plan.

However, he said he was informed earlier this week that the proposal had now been taken to “higher authorities”.

Dr Abd Latif also thanked the media for constantly providing public awareness on environmental issues as well as highlighting FRIM’s work.

“Many of the awards we have received is mainly due to the media exposure given to us. The value and impact of your reports have helped FRIM maintain our position as a tropical forest research institute that is known worldwide,” he said.

Among the media recognised by FRIM were The Star journalists Tan Cheng Li and Isabelle Lai for their respective reports last year on Merapoh, Pahang and Gunung Kanthan, Perak, as well as StarMetro section for its support for FRIM activities.

FRIM’s Kepong campus, renowned for being a model of successful reforestation, was established in the 1920s and recognised as a natural heritage in 2009 and national heritage in 2011.

It is working to attain Unesco World Heritage Status by 2017.

56th Merdeka Ride

This event will be organised in conjunction with Malaysia’s 56th National Day Celebration.
This ride will be named as the 1st ride to cross over 2nd Penang Bridge, the longest bridge in Southeast Asia, hence the participants will become record holders for the Malaysia Book of Records.
The ride will begin from Batu Kawan Stadium, 2nd Penang Bridge, Batu Kawan Stadium.
The route covers 46km and will be a fun ride, not a race.
We are expecting about 10,000 riders to register and take part in this event.

Mechanics

The registration closing date is:
Registration fees : RM80
All riders must register. Entries will be processed in the order received.
All riders who register will receive:
o Complimentary Cycling Jersey
o Food Redemption Voucher
o Lucky Draw Number
Jersey collection will be rescheduled. We will send you the email on the new date.
Registration fee is strictly not refundable and non-transferable. All fields in the registration form are compulsory and MUST be filled in.
Registration will only be valid after payment has been received and processed by the organiser(s).
Participation is open to those aged 12 years old and above. Participants aged below 18 years old must get their parent(s) consent to participate in this ride.
Whilst the event programme is fixed at the time of publication for this registration form, the organiser reserves the right to amend the programme as deemed necessary.
Important Notes

- For your own safety, helmets are compulsory – No Helmet No Ride.

- It is a MUST for all riders to wear the official event cycling jersey during the ride as well.

- Riders who turn up without a helmet or official event cycling jersey will not be allowed to participate.

- It is important to remain properly hydrated during the ride at all times. Carry a drink bottle on your bike and try to practice drinking while you ride, prior to the event. You can refill drinking water at our water stations along the route.

for those who interested can still register but u have to do it manually. go to their office (bicycle town) penang. they closed at 5pm. online registration already tutup.
