Hi guys (and girls), i need to transport a Tern Link D8 on a flight, my plan is to get a box and pack it in folded, with some padding and bubble around the gears. Now the question is to check in as Checked Luggage (fragile) or Sports Equipment, and does it make any difference, priority of course whichever will be handled with more care.

Yea thanks, i know. I don't mind paying whichever luggage fee, just in doubt over the few points below, with of course priority to ensure the bike arrives safely:-

1. Normal checked luggage - as it is in a sealed box, they won't know what's inside when checking in, will ask for FRAGILE tag, but not sure if this is safer than "Sports Equipment" tag;

2. Sports Equipment luggage - bike folded and packed in a sealed box, will ask for FRAGILE tag, wondering this way is safer or normal checked luggage;

3. Sports Equipment luggage - bike exposed as it is wrapped in cling wrap/bubble wrap and not folded. Wondering if this way they will be forced to be extra careful with the bike.

Will probably go for number two, unless someone has experience with this.

our local airport boys? those workers ignore that fragile tag lah... they would just throw around like a boss...
my wife's java fit first time naik kapal terbang, protected by cardboxes and packed inside the folding bicycle bag, when take out that time the rear derailleur punya cage plate sudah bengkok. jilakak have to spend money to replace it.
