Hi everyone, new foldie reporting in. Wanna to say hi to everyone.

Hi suntzelee, as a new foldie rider, i recommend you get the Garion Alloy which is about RM5xx if you are looking at CronusMy shop. Or going to Ampang United Angel to look for reasonable price bike. Just my own opinion, PJ shop bike price is over my current dompet limit. Hehe

The RM299, i think u saw in Tesco? Those are steel built foldie, u will feel the different if u lift up a steel foldie and a alloy foldie. Not to mention the part may use some unknown brand or cheap part.

BTW i bought a TRS foldable form United Angel Kajang. Initially also looking for those RM299 and 399 in his shop. But after trying then i knew sometime higher price really make different. Mine is RM499. Different in RM100, but built quality, shimano gear, lighter alloy body is soemthing i willing to pay more for that.

Still those RM700 ++ and above, and those with more gear (mine only 7 speed) are more enjoyable to ride. I just need a starter bike to ride, whose know maybe i will upgrade in future if i feel 7-speed is not fun anymore.
Mine TRS is upgradable BTW. According to the shop owner i can change my gear to better one in future. like 16-speed or 24-speed. 7-speed is good for flat terrain (place like putrajaya/ taman near your house), but it is tiring when i cycle at taman botani shah alam.

Hi Zelmel, good to know i'm not alone here. Well thanks for giving me valuable tips here. Yeah, i was contemplating between alloy and steel frame. can give me more info or link to your current bike? how heavy is  TRS? The chronus garion stell is 14.45kg. If you can share some picture about your bike would be great. Hmm...499 for alloy frame is great buy.

Btw can i ask what's the different between alloy frame and aluminium frame? Thanks bro. If we stay nearby, sure i want to invite you to form a foldie group for newbies...haha, just to get more buddy to kick start my new found hobby.... icon_rolleyes.gif
*
I am not sure my bike will have link or not. You can look for United Angel in FB. My foldie model is TRS TXC-9.
Steel frame = ~14-16kg
Alloy = depend it is full alloy or alloy frame but steel fork. My TRS is steel fork, about 11-12kg. Full alloy maybe lighter. Alloy = aluminium.
Derailuer = Shimano Tourney 7-Speed

My foldie is the light green one, the second one wub.gif wub.gif

They also have TRS-TXC-8 which is older version of TRS TXC-9 same alloy and RM399 (clearance stock, my wife bought the second last stock). This newer version had better joint, better lock and more sturdy than its older sibling.

Bro this model is 22" wheel size which they sold it for rm450 & with disc brake. U think is somehow better than TXC-8 with normal brake & 20" wheel? hmm.gif

QUOTE(suntzulee @ Aug 12 2014, 05:30 PM)
oops...i got myself TXC-8. No wonder so cheap. i tot i got a good price. should have waited your reply and act. doh.gif Btw bro, is TXC-8 got many different compare with TXC-9? Is there mud guard and wrench provided when u first bought the foldie?

I called them but they said TXC-9 no more stock liao... cry.gif they said factory no more produce... rclxub.gif

omg...i discovered a 5cm long dent on my front wheel rim...got to go back again tomolo....sigh sad.gif

Tot to start my hobby this evening, seem got to cancel and return the bike to them...actually i requested them to give me a new set from the box, but they say need to fix and they give only ready set...is that true also? hmm.gif
*
Sorry didn't reply your message early. Was busy in the afternoon.

Wah you make decision so fast and bought already. rclxms.gif
My wife bought a TRS-TXC-8, so far so good, I tot TXC-9 is latest one? Maybe it going to release TXC-10? hmm.gif
Different between TXC8 and TXC9 is the joint.
I will show u later. Need to take photo.
The rest is the same. Spec, frame design, height, weight etc
You need to tighten the joint a bit manually. If not it will feel loose.

Yes, regarding the dent, u should go back and ask for replace. Should be okay. So far me and my friend had no issue with the boss. Try not to deal with the younger Chinese guy, he can't make much decision. The older boss or the Cantonese speaking malay guy (I think he is malay) can make decision better. I think u should ask for new one from the box. Just my opinion.

I didn't get any free gift or mud guard etc. biggrin.gif

I am from PJ btw thumbup.gif

I thought this one is 20" also, it is 22"?
This one and TXC8 same joint, brake, weight and height. Only the body frame different. But slightly higher price due to disc break. V break vs disc break... I can't differentiate any different la. Not that pro yet.

Sorry dunno how to differentiate size. 406 is 20" n 451 is 22". Actually, bigger size wheel got any benefit? I saw the tyre so slim, can they run on FRIM park?
I saw H2D posted the 22" TRS with disc brake. Is 22", any better than 20"?. I might want to change model or you think I should stay with TCX-8? They said TCX-9 no stock, something like factory no more production.... rclxub.gif

I think I understand why you come out with star on your head. Yup there really are many choices in that shop.

If it is really 22" then for me it sound good. Why? How I explain this, a 22" tyre when u paddle one cycle it will spin more distance than 20". So in term of speed imagine you racing with your friend ur friend need to cycle more to get same distance. Whether it is consider benefit. Depend on people. 20" vs 22" no sure how much the different. And need to ask whether the tyre is easily to get or not.

I never go to FRIM before. But from most of the review I read on internet. Folding bike is not as tough as mountain bike. So rough terrain and stony trail better avoid because all folding bike tyre are slim. It bengkok easily. It is like the road bike. Very weak on hard rough terrain.

May I know when u bought your T9? Other than better joints, does T9 lighter, comfortable, easy to handle than T8. Which one you prefer?. I'm really new on foldie. I just know when it is fold, u can't push and roll it on the floor. Need to lift the foldie in order to transport it. Well they claimed T8 is less 11kg but why I feel so heavy when lifting it? Really 11kg sure? hmm.gif
*
I bought my foldie two days before Raya. Hehe.
Since I got both TXC8 for my wife and TXC9 for my self.
So here my unprofessional comparison. Oh ya my friend also bought a TXC8 at same time.

1. TXC9 come with new saddle which is thicker and more spongy. Which I think it is nicer to ride. My wife will buy new saddle as the saddle of TXC8 is harder. She felt buttock pain.

2. TXC8 joint on day 1 it felt loose. After watching YouTube and reading internet I manage to learn how to tighten the joint properly. Both my wife and my friend happy after the joint is tighten. Before this it feel bergoyang-goyang.

3. I always carry one hand TxC8 and one hand TXC9. You know la need to carry for wife. Hehe. I feel both same weight. Whether it is really 11kg. I never go ms weight it yet.

4. Any foldie after folded, you only can carry it. (I might be wrong, maybe got other brand can move after fold)

5. Both TXC8 and TXC9 same dimension after folded. Mechanism of folding is same for both for the body one. Joint for folding for handle as you see in picture i showed you before. I feel TXC9 easier to fold. But it really much different.

Bro, when u say joint loose is which part? The seat, the fold frame or the handle when folding?
Omg, one big one small tyre...must need dollars to mod that....great to know....Hugo after fold, that bad meh? hmm.gif
*
The joint in the picture I post just now. Where u fold the handle down. It was loose initially.

I don't said the UGO fold very bad. Just don't like the way it fold. You notice there is a stand/feet that hold our TRS so that the front crank and the bottom of bike didn't touch the ground. UGO don't have it.

Hmm, when u release the lock, the handle will go down & it suppose to be loose, right? Or u mean after unfold the handle, u feel loose instead?...haha, better we sit down & share all these...so hard to describe in words here....after I pick up my new T8, will sure join u. Only if u welcome newbies.... tongue.gif
*
Yup. That joint I mean. You can adjust the tightness by screwing something there. Yup very hard to describe. Haha.

I am newbie too. Just bought before Raya. Peer pressure by my friend. They already conquer Ulu Langat hill using foldie I can't even finish the Taman Botani Shah Lam trail. Effect of long time no exercise and having sedentary lifestyle. Haha.

I stay near UM. But going klang as My friend from Klang. I am joining them as they knew more about bike. All the knowledge I share is from what they teach. So I am not pro yet. So far we cycle putrajaya, FRIM and Taman Botani Shah Alam.

I welcome you joining me. But need to ask the big group first. I believe there are also many foldie group in this forum. My cycling maybe not as frequent as you think because of the job I have. 😊

Glad that you able to change to newer bike. Like I said I like the guy as he can make decision maybe he is boss also. As for the seat. Hopefully it will get loosen over time.
Did you buy any accesories?
So your bike have bigger tyre. I dunno that. Somehow he didn't tell me that. With tyre that have pattern, you have better grip.
Btw bro, where you from?

Not yet bro. I plan to get front light & rear blinking light for night ride. What accessories u recommend? I'm from Kota damansara,. Looking for other newbie like me to bike together.... tongue.gif
*
So far i just bought myself rear blinking light, still looking for my big head helmet. sweat.gif sweat.gif
Still KIV for bottle holder and front light. Rear light just bought from daiso RM5, icon_rolleyes.gif
Front light in Daiso look ugly, so didnt buy. Buy a loceng for my wife bike too. tongue.gif

I have no choice also, no place in PJ sell those TRS or Trinx
They all sell XDS, Java, Dahon, Tern and Brompton.
Other place I heard sell TRS is Rawang and Dengkil. Also far.
I dunno why yours got so many problem.
Maybe that why a lot PJ people here buy branded one, maybe less problem. Haha
Saddle too tight I think acceptable kot, better than too loose later it's slide down when it suppose not to slide. And for the feet, I don't really mind because I unfold them at home only fold it to put in my car bonnet.

You travel on weekday to Kajang. No jam meh?

ah...change back???... rclxub.gif never think of so many issues owning a bike...huhu sad.gif seriously, u think i should change back to txc-8? the black color i bought yesterday left one unit only. there''s blue but i dont like. perhaps get back the old unit and just replace the new dented rim...

what say u bro?...really dilemma now.. rclxub.gif
*
Change back ha? hmm.gif hmm.gif
I am not really sure. Seat post thing depend on you lo. Another friend brought a Nakxus foldie which is RM750 also very tight, and now the seat post already bercalar calar (it coated black with silver colour inside) because she always need to lower and raise the seat post to fix in her myvi. but she said its okay, bicycle meant to be calar not meant to be well kept. so it really depend on people. mine although is easily release and fall down once i release also bercalar calar already because it is metal and metal contact. so sooner or later sure bercalar one.

I knew that triangle stand below the crank. i really not sure about your model my wife TXC8 can stand well like u said.
Again it is just to protect your crank from touching the ground. most of the time the bike should be unfold. nod.gif

One thing i can suggest is that, whether you can change the seat post on TXC8 to your current bike and see how it is. maybe that TXC8 seat more loosely design. Just my opinion.

I prefer not to confuse you more. ride your bike. as long as its function as bike to ride then enjoy it. Those minor minor thing i think dont really interfere with the function. <-- maybe i just too optimistic or easily sastified. tongue.gif
Or think like me, if i really become more and more addicted. I wont buy new one, but i will mod it cool2.gif
I will keep some money maybe mod it over the year. biggrin.gif

getting more confuse now... rclxub.gif bro, ask you TCX-8 the tyre seem very botak and slim. But is it safe to cycle on the road? will it very slippery?

I might take H2D advice to take back the black TCX-8 and change the dented rim...after all, 20-25 seem bulky after fold. I'm staying in a condo, so space is limited. After ride i will always fold it and store at some small space. Hope i can get TCX-9 like you but again the bro said factory also out of stock.... sad.gif
*
Never mind. Nothing to be confused about.
Just learn along the way. Any bike will be a good bike as long as you love it. And ride it.

Botak or not that again another knowledge. It is not totally botak. If you notice mountain bike tyre is botak type. Mountain bike is not botak. So from there you likely know that more bunga means more resistant on flat road. more bunga better for more earth jungle mountain bike kind of activity. So for the moment for us as started the botak type is suitable to ride on road and park. As u feel it more light to ride. Once we more advance later like our friend showed about the UGO with bigger tyre and more bunga type of tyre. Then that time means bringing foldie to more challenging terrain.

Oh yea, i have one question, is it all foldie cannot do reverse with the pedal while the foldie is stagnant. when i did, the chain like sekat sekat....when i try to reverse the foldie, i notice the pedal also moves reverse...is that normal?
*
If I understand your question well. Then all bicycle when you push your bike backward, the pedal will turn with it as well. It is normal.

The other question, I not sure I am understand or not. My answer is u can't go backward (gostan) by turn the pedal backward.

One question for everyone here.
Do you all pump the tyre in petrol station?
Can we?
What pressure for 20" foldable tyre?
