haaa.. finally i got access to post to this forum.. it's a validation issue ... no wonder i cant post anything here..

just got my ride last week from Rodalink Hartamas

Dahon Vigor P9 for myself and Tern Link D8 for my wife

the bikes runs awesome !!..

By the way, i am just curios with the tires i am running on.. on Dahon website.. it stated that vigor p9 is schwalbe marathon supreme but the bike is on Rotolo rubber... when i called back with Sri Hartamas Branch they said that every country have different specs of tire so in order to lower down the price of Dahon here in Malaysia the tire was downgrade to Rotolo instead Marathon.. is it true? or can it be accidentally swapped?

sharing you some shots of the ride

Rodalink is correct. In Malaysia they swapped the Marathons for the Rotolos, to cut the selling price a bit. OK larr! for a Vector frame. It's the top level frame from Dahon at a cheaper price. In fact you should have got 2 Vigors instead of another choice. Anyway, enjoy riding as I am.

PS/ Take note though. Marathon Plus comes in 2 forms, one is the wire ribbed for OEM which are heavier and the ones sold separately are those folded ones which are much lighter and better. icon_rolleyes.gif

I was told there were two colour, slate (blue) or white (dr.hon version, white).

I received a cd for service n manual instruction, some stickers, small bottle of paint to cover marks n scratches.

hey all

finally got myself a Boardwalk D8 too a couple of weeks ago... a good ride, though looking at a few upgrades to improve comfort/ergonomics:
- saddle to a comfier one
- the handlebar is slightly too close to the saddle to my liking.. looking to get one of those litepro handlebar stems to push the the handlebar in front a bit
- probably switch to bigger tyres (Schwalbe BA maybe?). lot of bumps and hardened concrete on the roads in my area
- to change the grips. however as the Boardwalk comes with a twist shifter, looks like i have to change that first.. is it possible to use another brand 8-speed shifter (e.g. shimano) to go with the Neos RD?

longer-term upgrades would probably be to increase the gears to at least 16 speeds.. struggling with 1st gear up hills, and 8th gear is not fast enough going downhill.. but as that might be costly, i may as just save up for a better bike in the future

I think it is advisable to use the same brand for shifter and derailleur else it will not shift as smooth as it should. This is what I was told. smile.gif Sifu Etigge is the expert here.

for normal 20" foldie, the top cover for the car boot need to be removed, then the bike to be placed vertically...

Thanks!

The conditions of your purchase is quite perplexing!  tongue.gif It's like describing a person as fair and dark, a bit fat but slim and quite tall but short!  blush.gif  In your case, I think the best is the Trinx 16 speed because it's cheap for the specs, has enough gears and also will last till you get another better bike in future if he/she continues riding after finding out that it's fun riding.

Another option is the XDS but the 16 inch wheels option. This bike is built better than XDS 20 inch counterparts. Whether you can ride long distances depends on the rider. The last 5 rides of the Penang trip we did, there were 2 retired Cikgus who uses it with no problems as it is compact enough to put into IKEA bags!  thumbup.gif

Where can I find XDS and Trinx?

See ur budget

I think rodalink is having off the season discount.

I bought one from rodalink batu kawa kch n get it shipped to miri for free via bus express.
They issued a discount n automatically rodalink membership.

If possible, test drive ur foldie

Rodalink is quite expensive isn't it? Dahon's are like RM2000+ and Tern's range from RM1000 and above

QUOTE(zeliustitan @ Mar 10 2014, 08:51 AM)
since you mentioning about myvi car boot, i guess you need a very compact bike. Not sure which between dahon/tern that fits you but brompton has no prob. Try to ask the shop to test whether can fit into you myvi car boot or not.

Light bike doesn't come cheap. average weight is 12. to 14kg?

where can I find Brompton bikes?

If I'm looking for a semi-road bike, something hybrid that can do mountain some times, what brand should I be looking at? That's compact enough? There are some people selling their 2nd hand Tern Verge X10 - good? Also how many speed should I be looking at?

The Neos are compatible with Shimano and Microshift shifters. So, no problems. icon_rolleyes.gif

Your criteria for your first bike is getting wider! rclxub.gif Now you want one that can do mountain trails as well. First you said Dahons and Terns are too expensive and now you are asking where to find Brompton! shocking.gif Well, Bromptons can be found in GW Cycles.

which would u recommend for the Boardwalk D8? say if i source a shifter thru taobao, etc.. can a novice like myself change it by referring to guides/instructions.. or do i need to get it done by an "expert" just to be sure?
