Can i ask how long is the warranty if i purchase xbox from game shops? eg djinn's or bernard's? The elite version comes with better heatsink and epoxy rite? Is it effective in dissipating the heat generated? IIRC, there's no 65nm version out yet rite?

meaning any prob within the year i just send back to them? Is it 1 to 1 replacement or they'll repair it?

from what i observe, ppl who complain about xbox 360 rrod are usually those who want to mod their box to play pirated games.

What i can say is, if you want to be a cheapo and rip off game developers, then you deserve the paperweight in your hands when your box dies.

Why can't microsoft just allow their service centers here to accept xbox 360 for repairs.. @.@ it's not like they dun have branch office here.

The problem now is finding a premium set on the market. every shop i go to doesn't sell xbox 360 premium anymore. Only elites available.

3ROD is a problem for xbox360. But at least those who didn't mod the box can have it fixed by microsoft. I'm not defending microsoft, but at least you're still able to have your investment repaired.

So far, best price for new Elite set is RM 1770 from beat_boyz6's Gamers Corner. 1 year warranty from him. 2 years from Microsoft.

Gamers Hideout only have refurbished premiums. They still come with 3 years warranty. 1 Year from GH and the other 2 from Microsoft. Forgot the price di, should be around RM 1250-1300.
Elite is retailing for RM 1990.

Other places i've asked so far all refuse to sell xbox360. Says got prob. There's a shop in One U which sells elite for RM 1900, but without any warranty.

OFT abit, what we're all saying here is that, if you don't want to have the headache of fixing 3ROD yourself, then don't mod the box. Buy ori. no one's asking you to buy like 10 games a month. Just start small, and trust me, the satisfaction of having original games is no match to a stack of pirated copies.

if say i connect the xbox to monitor using a hdmi to dvi converter, how am i gonna get sound? the sound is piped through HDMI rite?

GPU is still the main reason for 3ROD. 65nm proc may help abit, but not much. As for removing x-clamp.. it's kinda stupid rite? since you have 3 years warranty, why wan remove it? Any prob, just send back la. If you open the box, warranty void di.. no more 3 years pain free.. lol

OFT again, i kinda despise Malaysians who keep complaining about the price of ori games when they can spend like crazy amount of money on pirated and never finish any game they buy. As the saying goes la.. sedikit sedikit, lama lama jadi bukit.

Honestly, i'm not supporting MS xbox360. If it's not because the lack of games with ps3, i'd be getting it. Even my fav game has waltz over to the dark (or light?) side.. and i don't have a choice but to follow along.

Kinda frustrating lo.. never had thos much headache be4 purchasing a console. Choosing between one which will break down sooner or later but have lots of great games.. or another which will not break down but will probably sit in the dust due to lack of use.

However, i'm really against people who mod consoles to play pirated games.. the same with those who dl and buy pirated pc games. When got prob, they'll always be the ones screaming bloody murder.

i'm getting an xbox 360 tmr from a fellow lyner.. it's a refurb set. Since i'm gonna run it on my monitor, i need a vga cable. Any idea how much it costs?

i've asked some shops and they ask me to get ori one cos they say 3rd party got 60% is spoil one.. can anyone confirm this?

I can't afford an ori vga cable now as i also need to get a set of rechargeable batt for the controller. Any idea how i should go about this? I don't mind 3rd party stuff.. as long it's working.

hmm.. i just purchased a 3rd party cable and battery from play asia.. have to wait 5 to 10 days.. T.T

total spent about RM 50.. i couldn't find anyone selling ori cable in pasar malam.

Btw, the console i'm buying doesn't come with free 1 month gold LIVE. Any idea where i can purchase gold membership>? heard i can get it cheap instead of the 250++ for 1 year. I'm a first time user.

was told that someone here can open the box, do the modification and close it back with the warranty sticker replaced. Should i do the NOS MOD (what the heck is it) to my xbox? According to the seller, it's a new refurb set from microsoft singapore.

Well, you could ask if it still have local warranty, as in if got any prob, is there a shop which you can send back who will deal with the prob? Another thing would be to check if the xbox is banned from LIVE (if you are buying non-modded) and lastly, make sure you get receipt..

Btw, checking the manufactured date will help too. See if it comes with benq or the new hitachi drive and extra heatsinks.. Doesn't actually prevent rrod, but will help in reducing the chance.
