I heard xbox360 going to be officially launch in M'sia within this few months.
ECS Astar will be the local distro
but dunno if the news is true or not

since M$ has started to put demo units of 360 in most of their functions.

Last night saw 2 units of demo xbox360 units at a function here in my hotel, which M$ is a major sponsor
really suprise to see it there, since it's actually a Dell event.

Anyone got any lobang with ECS Astar maybe can call them up and ask how much will be the price...
maybe we even can get a much cheaper bulk price here

from the demo units I saw, it's the premium edition with the HDD they are showing... no price thou...
but they are advertising teh web cam thingy, which will be released in Spring.

from the looks of things, I'm sure it will be launch locally, hardware is for sure lor... but content?? I doubt so lar...

my fren went to SW to look for a 360 premium

found 1 shop offering RM1200 only
so he thought what a bargain, so agreed on the spot to buy
so when he's about to pay, they told him he need to buy a step down adaptor in order to use it, so need to add an extra RM200 for the adaptor (fyi, it's a cheapo adaptor that you can get from anywhere for RM50)
my fren insisted he dun need the step-down adaptor since he already got a good quality and expensive one at home. (he owns all of the previous consoles that you can name)
But the stupid shop insisted his adaptor won't work with the 360, only the one they are selling will work with the 360 and refuse to sell him the console without the adaptor
So he damm pissed off and slap his cash of RM2000 on the table, "Here's my cash! but I won't deal with scammers!" and left

He can't tell me which shop thou, since he's not local here.

I know it's old news, that's how most of the shops in SW doing business, so newbie just beware.

yes, game installation

without the HDD on arcade, game loading is slower & noisier

it's best to install the games into the HDD

also without the HDD, you won't be able to buy & install the games from live marketplace, or download the free demo

but those can be easily solved with USB thumbdrive, as now the console can supports up to 16Gb of external storage
