The way I calculate is to compare a typical flight eg. KUL-JFK on CX/SQ which would end up to be around RM4-5.5k depending on timing. Divide that by the number of miles after deducting the fees etc. which is how I usually get RM0.05 per AM/KF mile. That's the value I get out of each mile, that's what I would pay out of pocket for it.

You might value it differently of course.

And how about MH? How much do you value each EM?
Thanks.

Good question, I don't know biggrin.gif because I'm not using much Enrich nowadays. My last long haul flight on MH was 2012 sad.gif

Another thing to consider when valuing miles is that for some airlines eg. CX Asia Miles, the cost of a premium economy redemption is only 20% more than an economy redemption, and the cost of a business redemption is about 30% above premium economy.

For example KUL-HKG-JFK return

Economy ~RM4.5k or 90k miles
Premium economy ~RM8-9k or 108k miles
Business ~RM15-16k or 145k miles

This is where the value of miles becomes more attractive because the increment in miles is much less than the increment in RM but it applies only to some airlines eg. CX Asia Miles, AAdvantage but not so much for SQ Krisflyer or BA Avios. I haven't really looked into MH Enrich all that much unfortunately.

There's a great thread on flyertalk discussing the value of an Asia Mile:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cathay-paci...-asia-mile.html

One Asia Mile = USD0.015 roughly.

For me, it boils down to your acquisition cost ie how much does it cost you to acquire those miles. Read through the thread above.

Also, when you factor in AM multi-carrier award redemption, the value per mile increases exponentially.

I used to value Enrich higher than Asia Miles because of ease of redemption but with the route cuts and until the new J seats are revealed (including redemption of Emirates' flights using Enrich) I would ignore Enrich altogether.

I had just made my complaint to the management on the withdrawal of the Priority Pass benefit. At RM 800 annual fees, I don't see it is justified without Priority Pass or equivalent benefits thrown in. I believe every card owners in this thread should do similar complaint feedback as well.

Anyway, does anybody know how Mbb deals with treat points? I still have some treat points from my M2C Platinum and in m2u, they totaled up the treat points. If I claim for miles, will they use my old treat points as 4770 also?  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

Then when i want to do it when maybank remove the weekend rebate, not allowed but allow to cancel M2C plat and trabsfer TP to M2Premier.

I think to me personally, the PPLs are more important than Priority Pass because I hardly use those lounges when returning.

PPL is already an existing benefit. Not to mention many credit cards in the market already providing PPL access, but not the Priority Pass.

Enrich miles conversion aside, PPL access alone does not justify the RM 800 annual fees.

Not just transit, but also when you are lingering at the airport at the country you are returning from, you would wish you could access the PPL for free over there.

shopping is not my cup of tea. that's why always ended up lingering when you have to check in 2.5 hours earlier.

If you want lounge access just "get" a Star Alliance/Oneworld elite card on Taobao instead biggrin.gif

As for the miles strategy, I credited my first 30k into Asia Miles and used them together with my balance to upgrade myself to CX first for an upcoming trip. 50k to upgrade from US West Coast to HKG- not too bad!

I would credit to Krisflyer if I wanted to book full award tickets instead of upgrades, though.

guys, for agoda and airbnb booking, remember to use Amex instead of VISA cos i just found out that it's now charged in local currency instead of foreign currency... dammit, lost at least 30k TP from my recent hotel bookings...

Status *matching* (cough).
Last year you could match with Turkish Airlines for Star, Airberlin for Oneworld and Alitalia for Skyteam, but those were one-off promos.

Status matching is you show another competitor airlines or hotel that you are now gold or platinum status with xxx company, ask them to match it, so you speed track your way to the top status without a single flight or stay with them
