Just my own opinion. I prefer using traditional method rather then using poison. It will affect us one way or another or in long term. There is no 100% safe poison.

What i do is 1st seal off the doors. There are many products sold in the market now.Just stick or screw on the doors so that any pest cant get through below door.

Then seal off or put mosquito net to any ventilation holes on the sealing. Some pest do fly.

Make sure the floor is clean with no food left overs. Left over cooked food kept in refrigerator so that pests cant smell them.

Smelly garbage quickly put outside the house and closed in bin. Normally garbage in house use a good garbage bin so that no gaps that pests can smell.

Mop using dettol or serai mix with normal detergent once a week. Use pandan leave and areas which pest might be hiding. Let the pandan leave there 2 weeks. The smell will chase out any pest.

Using food grade DE outside the house. Need to repour the de if rain washed it away. DE can kill other pests like ants and termite too.

So, far very rare to see pests in my house after i do this actions.

Good advise on this.
But for garbage management, I think reducing it will be the only way, like vegetable and fruit skin(that degradable) I always dump them to nearby bush area. Bones will feed the dog/cat nearby.
Only plastic stuffs will dump. Paper will keep and sell.

I forgot to mention that i have food crusher (kitchen maid) which from sink straight goes to manhole. It is fixed below sink. Vegis, some leftovers etc are crushed and send straight to manhole.Bones etc throw in rubbish.I collect those aluminium tins, plastic bottles and papers too.Although i get just little money from it because only from one house but im happy im doing a very small part in recycling.

Dumping solids(even is crushed) in to manhole are still no good sweat.gif

Another way to kill cockroach passively;

ISAAN:-- Jenjira Ponyong, a Prathom 6 student from Pracha-anukro Primary School, Kalasin province has invented a unique solution for killing cockroaches.

The student created  the solution by experimenting with 3 basic ingredients: cement powder, rice flour and Ovaltine powder.

Once the solution is mixed it is put in a place where the cockroaches usually roam together alongside a tray of water.

Janjira summarized the thought process behind creating the solution:

1. Ovaltine powder attracts the cockroaches.

2. The rice flour causes the cockroaches to be thirsty.

3. Once the cement powder mixed with water it will become hardened and caused death to cockroaches.

Comparing to general pesticide, her solution does not use any chemical which will contaminate the environment or affect people.

Not to pour cold water on this, cement actually are a cancer causing agent, at least for cement that made in Malaysia sweat.gif
Rather than we attract pest, prevent them would be better.
