While the title may sound quite off, the premise itself is pretty simple; a rookie soldier on a suicidal mission keep finding himself transported back in time to the very day before the said mission whenever he got KIA'd. Having been forced to experience countless iterations of agonizing deaths, he finally made a resolution to carry whatever he can to the next life & see to it that he can end the war & at the same time, the weird time loop that he has got himself trapped in.

The novel itself is pretty short, a few pages shy from 200 but I find it smooth with no page wasted on anything unnecessary, especially considering the fact that the protagonist himself had to repeat his eve of judgement day many many times which could lead to repeated events.

Needless to say, there were numerous twists loaded in the novel & I believe that there's no escaping spoilers if there were to be any discussion in this thread.

There is an ongoing manga that was drawn by Takeshi Obata (Hikaru no Go, Death Note, Bakuman) & at the same time, Hollywood is coming up with a movie adaptation (rebranded to "Edge of Tomorrow") starring Tom Cruise which should hit our cinema at the end of May. Hollywood being Hollywood, I expect major changes to the plot or ending though it's probably too early to tell at this point in time.

To be honest, I really do agree that the author took the easiest short cut out since it's definitely too easy for Rita to

I guess you're right in the sense that the author decided not to explore any further possibility & end the entire novel with such a cliffhanger. sweat.gif

To be honest, I'm very glad to have someone else to discuss the novel plot since most of the people out there rather wait for the movie adaptation. biggrin.gif

BelowAverage, I'm rereading the novel & somehow I think either the translator or the author mixed up the event in some of the loops. If you can get to the part where Keiji was fighting against a soldier from the 4th company, you'll read this line:

Keiji actually crashed against the potato cart in his 3rd loop, not his 4th. The 4th loop was when he
