QUOTE(TheDuckster @ Feb 12 2014, 05:15 AM) i'm interested in biology. was thinking if a degree in biotech and masters in bioscience enterprise will still land me this job, since i'm more inclined to teach a more general pre-uni biology compared to undergraduate when u're talking about "pre-uni", what exactly are u talking about? a-levels/stpm? if so, u need either a degree in education specialising in biology or a biology degree itself. eventually a masters to top it off and secure ur position in the long run.

QUOTE(TheDuckster @ Feb 12 2014, 12:51 PM) a-levels/ausmat/other private pre-uni courses. but most probably ausmat coz i kesian my bio lecturer, he's alredi 65 and still lecturing. i heard a lot of people complaining him now. If i do a degree in biotechnology, it will be fine to enter the private education line right? i'm worried i will be a dead man in PhD, it's unnecessarily tough. You see, degree in biology dun exists in a good private uni here in KL ~,~ u know why they dont offer the course in private unis?

QUOTE(TheDuckster @ Feb 13 2014, 12:38 AM) i'm afraid not. pretty worrying since there's a high chance i'm ending up in private. I will definitely need a high ranking private uni here, just for advanced acceptance as lecturer into previous uni if i apply there. it's simple: these courses are less popular. less popular means less applicant and less students. roughly translates into less money making opportunities. with that said, it also applies to IPTAs. these courses are less popular amongst school leavers in general, so the competition is less. a 3.00 should stand a good chance of getting into IPTA for these courses.

QUOTE(TheDuckster @ Feb 13 2014, 03:46 AM) If so, can I take a PhD in a field completely different from what I'm studying? I got interest to do a research plan to seems not 100% bio-related. I don't feel like taking Education degree, tbh. I love biology too much to go into Education. Besides, I cannot tahan the generation after my Generation Z punya But said Bachelor's as mentioned by me ealier will suffice, right? Really only that can help? bachelor is sufficient. but here's the thing: how long do u wanna stay teaching pre-uni? pre-uni is neither university level nor 2ndary school. atleast those two have better prospect as a full time profession.
