Dear sifu,

Hope you could advise me whether i should buy this item due to budget and seldom watch TV, only watch during weekend (mostly astro knowledge channels like nat geo wild, history channels, mega builder and do on)

I planned to buy this
item(s): CS918 RK3188 Quad Core
Hardware Specifications:
Rockchip RK3188 Quad Core Cortex A9 1.6GHz (1.8GHz max.)
2GB Ram
8GB NAND Flash
Android 4.4 android tv box
802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi(2.4GHz)
RJ-45, Micro SD Card reader, USB, OTG, SPDIF
Quad Core Mali 400MP GPU

It is compatible with kodi? Everything can run smoothly?
I'm newbie to android TV box by the way.

Thank you for your advice in advanced.

I'm using this android box, but with additional web camera on top.
Still running on XBMC Gotham, rooted and no problem with Azdrama, Genesis and Showbox.
Running on Time Dot Com - 10mbps and I don't found any issue for my use.

Only problem I would complaint is the remote is rather slow response and limited range.
For the problem, I got my self a wireless remote MEELE F10(cant recall the name).

Wanted to try to Kodi later, but reading here alot of ppl have issue with KODI stability.
So will delay until a more stable version is out or the add-on is not working anymore.

Just my 2-cents.

I'm using a Himedia Q1 with unifi VIP10 internet but the Kodi experience was very disappointing. Is it because the device? My box has 8GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. Is it not enough? I'm using it to watch English TV Series and movies only on Kodi. Mostly in HD 720p only. But, if possible 1080p would be nice.

I'm considering to upgrade to a 2GB RAM box. But based on my usage, the Minix Neo X8-H plus is a bit overkill. I've read all about the best android boxes but all the expensive ones. Can anyone recommend a good box under RM400?

I'm using CS918 Android 4.4 TV Box RK3188 Quad Core with 2gb ram and also using KODI to play 1080p video.
I don't find it a problem and it cost me below RM200 for the unit.

Are you sure this is RAM problem or internet line problem?

Just my 2-cents.

I think it is RAM problem. My internet is 10mbps. Should be no problem to stream. I can stream Youtube with no problem using the box. But in Kodi it always buffering. I think 1GB RAM is not enough to run android kitkat and kodi.

BTW, what's your internet speed? I read 4mbps should be enough to stream HD content.

I'm on Time 10mbps.
Please don't get me wrong here, I got feeling it is not your device buffering problem.
To my experience if your internal storage is running out of space, Kodi will give you problem too.

Which my device was out storage space back in a week ago and Kodi seem to have alot problem on playing the video and auto-shut off from time to time, but after I reset it and reinstall Kodi all my app behave as it should be.

Cheers.
