Suspected as much.. Just wasn't bothered enough to read up and post a proper differences list.  .. Lurker can read or watch full reviews.. Plus it's a no brainer that the Q10 Pro is better than the Q5 Pro.

one thing i discovered in the last few days...

if u r heavy into playback of videos with digital (dd/dts) and hd audio (ddtruehd/dtshdma), you gotta get a box with a native player that can do that.

if u rely on kodi for usb playback, it is becoming a nightmare for android devices.

i can't fully understand all of it after reading and reading but i can tell it is becos kodi is setting a new std for v17. it gets worse with differences in android 5, 6, 7!

in short, android boxes and androidtv firmware (and their chipsets) that do not comply with kodi 17 will be in a mess for dd and dts audio streams, no need to talk hd audio.

my box is on latest firmware, haven't noticed any problem with 1080p, 4k, or hd audio.

Why is the 16gb flash memory important if one can use external memory?

For installing lots of Android apps I suppose. Games (which I think I won't need as I don't game on my mobile also)

Trust us who have used 8gb boxes.

That is the base model... slim, small and powerful.
Excellent for usb playback, home theater, samba.
Without kodi, can take a lot of apps.
With kodi, all good except quasar.

I had wanted a "q5proii" with 2/16gb, like q16.
I doubt himedia will do it now.
Resources better used on kodi17 wrapper for audio passthru.

Next gen, wud like to see kodi 17 audio sorted out, 3/32gb.
I will then get one, retire the last q5ii.

Need some advice from the pros. I've done some research and i see that the main competitors here for android boxes are Minix, HiMedia and mibox. I've narrowed down to 2 choices which are the neo u1 (better 16gb storage) and mibox pro (better mt8693 a-73 chip and benchmarks).

That said these 2 are based on android OS and not android TV OS. I think that mibox 3c (not pro version) is based on Android TV OS. Are there any advantages of getting the TV OS version over the Android OS? other than the looks and feel that is.

If the advantages of the TV OS makes a difference, i might have to rethink my options.

until u have try out file commander, u will be amazed how clean and easy the file sharing on box using its "pc file transfer" function. turn on the service and you can access your box contents via browser on your mobile or pc.

you mean the write permission that thing? if not mistaken the app will prompt you and guide you to make it works.

i swear the file commander premium is the best for the period. it also tagged as editor choice in play store.

q10pro 7.0, it starts to restrict this and that, had to go ASUS fm.

Yes, it's pretty bloated. I'm a minimalist most of the time, looks like I will check out those apps suggested earlier and get rid of ES File Explorer. I just need one app that I can easily transfer files from mobile/PC to my box.

True, even I'm on 6GB RAM phone now, I still find it underutilized for my case.
