Which is why brands like Minix, Himedia, Wetek, etc can get away with charger higher.. cuz one is purchasing more than just a hastily assembled box and a half-baked firmware..  smile.gif
*
i just got back my first box after letting a fren try it.

a 4 yr old himedia q5ii dualcore 1/8gb 4.2.

a little slow, limited storage but works good still.

a few apps, kodi (just a few addons), playback 1080p, DTSHDMA/DDTrueHD, wifi 50ft.

i paid rm320 at that time, i think it's great value!

hi guys.. reading through the forum i can conclude that most chinese android box from nexbox, beelink, sunvell doesnt support AOTG. The cheapest box that can support AOTG i guess should be MINIX ? (having MINIX NEO U1 in mind). Another question is how is the picture quality of AOTG when it is projected on large TV (since it is actually designed for tablets and mobile devices)
*
I was able to use AOTG on my Xiaomi MiBox 3rd gen, so I would assume newer gens would be ok as well, if you don't ask the seller to root the box for you. MiBox doesn't with Google Play Store, so you will have to sideload the APK. So in terms of "cheapest", I would say that Xiaomi would be cheaper than the Minix.

Point taken sir. I apologize if my question on the previous post is deemed as redundant. Didn't mean to cause a raucous over a question.  Sorry for the OT:peace:

Back on topic.

I was just wondering that other brands are being shipped from overseas while Himedia doesn't. Question is, is Himedia manufactured locally? It seems to be one of the few Android boxes that aren't imported from China. I was just thinking about local warranty and support.
*
Apologies accepted.. All is well within the realm.. As has already been mentioned, majority if not all such boxes are being manufactured in China. It's a manufacturing & shipping hub after all. As for local warranty, it's mainly from the local seller.. Who'll assist in making claims from the parent company.. Same with support, though it's not that difficult to DIY. As long as you purchase a decent box from a reputable seller and it isn't a lemon unit.. Used properly, it should last a couple years till it breaks down or you upgrade to better hardware. The latter is typically what happens.

Hi guys, currently looking for android box due to skybox no longer able to use.

Quick quiestion. Is ram capacity affect the performance much?
Got an offer zidoo 1gb ram (with kit kat) + 1 month subscription for rm250, Z1 2gb ram (with lollipop) for rm359, and Z1 plus 2gb ram (with marshmallow) for rm399.

If there is not much difference in performance I just buy the 1gb ram zidoo. Thanks btw.

Hi there,

Sorry if I missed out your reply earlier regarding this Box.

Was planning to grab it thru Gearbest.

Any short review for this box since you have time to test it out already?

My 1st hands on impression coming from my old Minix 2gb ram/8gb emmc running 4.2.2.

-Apps launches very fast.
- Kodi video streaming is very smooth up to 1080p. No issues.
- Tested playing 4k short video on Kodi from pendrive. Very slight lag. Audio n video is good. Did not notice any black banding.
- Much faster to go into n play those add on movies.
- Heat on the box is acceptable just warm after 6hrs.
-The Rii wireless keypad remote is surprisingly user friendly. Will need time to get use to it though.

With my limited knowledge on Android box I can only say is really good for my daily use. Mostly on kodi with only 3 add ons and 2 additional apps install for now.

Guys, just recently I am bit interesting to knowing more about these Android TV box. But I don't know where to begin, as I have absolutely no knowledge of it. My parents is coming to KL, and I do not have any Astro, and not planning to install one. I hope this android tv box can be a better alternative to Astro. I need something which they can watch and spend their free time here. Currently I am only watching ntv7, 8tv.

I hope someone can help answer a few questions, before I do further research:

1. How many version of Android TV box are there in the market? Which are the most reliable and popular currently?
2. Are all the shows from different brands of TV box the same, or totally different? What exactly can we watched from these TV box?
3. I am using 10mbps broadband, will it be sufficient or I need to upgrade?
4. Is it userfriendly that any old people also knows how to use?

I hope it is not too much to ask. After I have a brief understanding, I will do my further researches. Any TV box resller also can pls contact me. Thanks.

So far 905X with Android 6 seems stable

If you are using Exodus, Specto or SALTS and knows how to disable certain useless scrapers or providers, shorthen the timeout, your movie & preferred HD stream will load even faster rclxms.gif

A family friend has asked me yesterday to buy an entry box, might recommend this to her as it might cost less than RM150 icon_rolleyes.gif

this one is the king, in price too. biggrin.gif

but.. u need to decide if u can use it well.

the specs are terrific for streaming, playback, gaming.

u need to have the right tv, the right peripherals, the right apps and the right AV system to use it to the full.

I just want to make sure my money is well spent, I am more interested with the game streaming function since I have nvidia gtx680 pc system in the room... I think it will be worth it if the apps and movie/tv show streaming works exactly as any other cheaper china devices. Hope to Kill 2 birds with one stone.

I have always heard this and that Aunties talking about their tv box paying once and have endless channels for free lifetime, with no subscription fees etc. Is this wat they called "jailbreaked" or any similar method to unlock everything?

first part, i can't comment.

second part, the aunties mean they buy a box cum illegit iptv installed, all priced in one time or with once a year subscription. this, u can see sometimes people selling at coffee shops or at the stores. we do not discuss that here since it is illegit/illegal, don't get admin into trouble. but fine to discuss legit ones like astro, hypptv, netflix - there are threads for these.
