QUOTE(AVFAN @ Nov 12 2016, 10:19 PM) welcome to the thread. wew thats a lot to read almost everyday, someone will pose the same question. yr questions and quest will mark the beginning of a long journey! it will be nice to able to answer u in a few sentences but no, it will take pages. i would say some users here started 4-5 years ago, so, it's going to a bit of work and time for u if u really want it. but here's what i can do - a few thoughts and some links for u to read so that u have a better idea, then come back and get to the specifics and details. .. Aztro is aztro, there is no "replacement"; there are ALTERNATIVES. (i do not talk illegit/illegal stuff.) .. android boxes typically do everything an old media player will do and LOTS more, i.e. playback, live streaming, networking, etc. .. these boxes need updates, upgrades, new firmwares, new apps regularly, i.e. they are not "auto" push button type but need yr time, knowledge and effort to keep it working. u can buy a box with many things preinstalled but will still need yr effort over time as no one will come to "service" the box. so, it's very much DIY by searching, reading, watching you-tube demos, experimenting. .. videos are streamed via installed APPS, sometimes called APK's. some are better than others; some are small and simple, some are big and complex; some stay good for a long time, some die within days, need new. .. 30mbps is good, good enough for most streaming purposes. .. popular english tv series and movies, mandarin shows are easy to get, even in HD; eng live tv channels incl sports in SD easy, HD very hard. and i mean free ones, not paid iptv. .. u DL stuff.. what quality r u used to? if SD, the alternatives available will be very acceptable to u; if u r used to 1080p with DD/DTS/HD audio, that's a bit more challenging to get with online streaming. .. there are like 100 brands each with 10 models to choose from; can buy online, at shops, IT centers, from LYN sellers, etc. diff in price is mainly due to chipset, android version, memory size, video and audio handling capabilities, networking capabilities. recommended reading: http://www.wirelesshack.org/what-is-a-andr...es-it-work.html .. this thread of 178 pages. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3943906 https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3299652&hl= https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2970945/+80 https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2855171/+540 https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3139601/+600 i tot if its just an android, so this is applicable to my android phone. but i failed to set it up. or am i doing it wrong? |

hi guys.. reading through the forum i can conclude that most chinese android box from nexbox, beelink, sunvell doesnt support AOTG. The cheapest box that can support AOTG i guess should be MINIX ? (having MINIX NEO U1 in mind). Another question is how is the picture quality of AOTG when it is projected on large TV (since it is actually designed for tablets and mobile devices)

You'd have to leave it unrooted though as the AOTG app will not function on a rooted device...AFAIK, attempts to get it working on a rooted android device have proved futile.. As for PQ, well that depends on the up-scaling engine of your TV set. As you'll definitely be getting just SD quality. As you mentioned, its an app designed for mobile devices and not the big screen and so Astro has zero interest in maintaining servers and a service capable of delivering 1080p content for the big screen. This post has been edited by voncrane: Nov 15 2016, 12:09 AM |

QUOTE(firdausbhari @ Nov 15 2016, 12:09 AM) Nexbox A5 Pretty much the norm now... Same internal hardware, change outer case look and rebranded.. Fast hit the market.. Rinse & repeat. As long as it does the job you expect and can live with.. Its all good I guess..S905x Android 6.0 2gb Ram 16gb Rom Same function like most android boxes. Different name only lol Which is why brands like Minix, Himedia, Wetek, etc can get away with charger higher.. cuz one is purchasing more than just a hastily assembled box and a half-baked firmware.. I was just wondering that other brands are being shipped from overseas while Himedia doesn't. Question is, is Himedia manufactured locally? It seems to be one of the few Android boxes that aren't imported from China. I was just thinking about local warranty and support. |

QUOTE(drunkonpiss @ Nov 15 2016, 01:30 AM) I was just wondering that other brands are being shipped from overseas while Himedia doesn't. Question is, is Himedia manufactured locally? It seems to be one of the few Android boxes that aren't imported from China. I was just thinking about local warranty and support. himedia is based in shenzhen, china, all made there.most boxes are made in china but the co. HQ/int'l sales may be based in china, hong kong, singapore, germany, brazil, uk, usa. warranty - good question. i do not know how warranty is done for purchase online with lazada, etc. but if u buy from local stores or local sellers, it is std 1 yr warranty. if u buy from a "good" seller, u get good support. if u buy in china, there is no intl warranty. about learning androids, there is no other way but to read, buy, try, learn. many are used to astro and just want a "replacement" but no monthly payment. it does not work that way at all. u gotta DIY one way or another. the more time u put in it, the better the results. those who do not intend to spend time - android box is NOT for them. |
