I'm not really sure why, but my OTT M8s wifi download speed is very poor. Upload is normal. Tried some fix to move the internal antenna a bit, did the job for a while, after a while, the download speed is severed again.

Cant use cable, modem at centre of the house.

Using Unifi 30, but only get 3Mbps download speed. Upload is normal at 10Mbps.

Now using my Hypptv (which is working great) while waiting seller to reply my queries.

Bummer.

can u describe a bit more...

.. "dwnload, upload speed" - how did u determine that for the box?
.. do u get same 3mbps dwnld instead of 30mbps with other devices on wifi?
.. what router r u using? orig unifi one?
.. yr house... double, single, 3 storey? how far box from router?

1.
Using Speedtest app to test the speed down/upload. I got 23Mbps DL / 8Mbps UL when I 1st tried adjusting the antenna, I opened my HDTV app. After 15 minutes, I tried to change channels, and I noticed it takes a while to load, check Speedtest again, now DL is 19Mbps, UL still 8Mbps.

Repeat these steps, after 30 minutes or so, I can't stream any channels anymore, check Speedtest again, DL is 3Mbps, UL still 8Mbps.

2.
Other devices are receiving the normal speed for 30Mbps plan.

3.
Using Asus N14HP router. Works great btw.

4.
Single storey home, not sure the distance, but the M8s is showing max bar. For comparison, my Hypptv (the new small box) got consistent full speed wifi via Speedtest placed at the same spot.

Your router is good.

Other devices receiving good.

The problem is box or app specific. What is this HDTV app?

If u use YouTube or some other app, what is the result?

It's HaoHD app. Tried Youtube and downloading app from Play Store, both showing slow streaming/download speed.

What puzzling me is that upload speed is consistent, only download is affected. No suspicious apps running in the background. Only used for IPTV app to stream *astr-ehem* channels. biggrin.gif

Between the Zidoo X6 Pro with Rockchip's RK3368 processor vs the Minix Neo U1? I'd say get the U1. The X6 Pro has hearing and CPU throttling issues, it's also been reported to have problems playing 4K H.264 content, be it @ 30fps or 60fps.

I do not know this particular ahem iptv.

Video streaming smoothness is dependent on country geoblocks, site integrity, traffic volume, local authority throttling and yr equipment set up. One of them goes bad, u get poor reception.

I am now quite sure there is nothing wrong with your box or unifi. It is the ahem IPTV app not working well Since it is illegit, no guarantee. Aztro or any legit IPTV is not going to let hackers run wild for long.

Meanwhile, get a couple of common popular apps and try them. They should work good. Some apps are suggested in this thread, u can also Google to find them.

I have used many apps but over time, I come to use only a few reliable free ones since the rest are problematic. Problematic not becos of box or unifi but these apps are either not maintained well or get blocked very quickly.

Zidoo is a China brand, yes?

Check a bit more if it will have google, play store and YouTube.

Typically, China imported models cant have them becos Google is banned there.

But if u hv right support, it can be fixed with patch files.

Right now I can confirm my M8s is problematic. Probably a bad unit. Used the same iptv app on my HyppTV, can stream consistently. Gonna try factory reset and connect via lan cable once i get my homeplug kit.

if u can get that iptv working well on another device, then here is something not right about the box - could be memory problem, corrupted firmware/sys files... or hardware malfunction?

how old is the box?

U just bought it no? Have u checked with the seller? Maybe bring it to seller place to test or even test another unit?
Never heard this particular iptv provider before..could it be incompatible?

or could be a background app eating the download speed, but i didnt see any suspicious apps running hmm.gif

hope download speed will be ok on lan cable. then can confirm wifi is the culprit. otherwise, need to find another solution. sweat.gif

it's about 1 month old. googled about this problem, found out some M8s owners also having this wifi problem, but i think all of em because the antenna somehow located underneath the motherboard. Mine already located in the clear spot inside the box. So that's adding more puzzles. rclxub.gif

Yes, been in contact with seller. I think it's not app problem, but more to hardware or something else eating the download speed, since other apps also showing degraded download speed.

The LG airmouse is proprietary tech & tied to your TV.. You'll need another for the Minix..
