Need help here.

While watching Bloomberg in BBTS News, I selected ChannelNewsAsia in BBTS News. The volume changed to MAX! very loud. How to solve this? Cannot find TOOLS etc in BBTS to set volume for all its channels.

Thanks.

Mibox specs are average but storage space are abit low, which requires constant cache/data clearing or Kodi might crash.
The up side is their UI is simple and nice looking, plus the remote is sturdy and works well with Kodi interface.

Pls be informed some other box remote "return/back" button actually return u back to Kodi main screen instead of "1 page back" within the video addon.

So, if I'm looking for easy to use and nice interface and supports HD, should I go for Mibox or HiMedia? If HiMedia, which model because there are like a few of them. My wish list for a media player is:

1. Ease of use.
2. Nice interface.
3. Plays HD.
4. Supports wireless.
5. Doesn't break down easily.
6. Support is easy to be obtained.
7. Does not require much tweaks/upgrades, etc.

Thank you.

I bought this for my parent to view their favourite IPTV + Youtube channel.
Not possible to test further with it as my mum busy watch her favourite TV channel, just after I finished the setup of IPTV app.  rclxub.gif
Paiseh, I am new to this TV box, not familiar with KODI - not sure how to use it.   blush.gif
Will need to learn more from all Sifu in here.  sweat.gif   notworthy.gif

There aren't any much review found in Internet for this Zidoo X5, cause this is quite new in the market - released on Dec last year if I'm not mistaken.

If anyone want to get bigger RAM and eMMC, go ahead with Zidoo X6 Pro (2GB+16GB), the price around RM500 plus/minus.

Ah yes... Mums cannot be interrupted.. tongue.gif. As for KODI, it might seem challenging at first but it gradually gets better. There's a KODI thread here & lots of articles & YouTube videos, containing tutorials etc.

that will be very bad.

i suppose for such boxes, it will be same if right click with mouse (which is return).

Usually for instances like that, one needs to manually create a keymap.xml file and store it in the keymaps folder (/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/keymaps). The following is a sample code I used with the Minix Neo A2 lite remote & KODI on the Minix Neo X8-H Plus. It's also written to allow video playback to continue while taking one step back.
Note that the "org.xbmc.kodi" is for regular KODI. The pre-installed XBMC for Minix would be "hk.minix.xbmc".

Further customisation is possible & your remote's key ID maybe different..

1 - 4.... Most reasonably priced boxes handle this well, besides can always install & customize a different launcher. Ease of use? Get a good airmouse or touchpad + keyboard Combo remote..
5... Good luck.. smile.gif
6... Same as 5.. I believe the Mibox has better support than HiMedia.. Minix rules.
7... These are boxes running heavily tweaked softwares that were only meant to run on mobile phones and tablets.. Bugs & tweaks are expected. So much here depends on one's willingness to dabble.. The more questionable apps or addons installed, the higher the chances of something going wrong. Especially on a box with lower specs or buggy firmware.

Cant really advise..and would not be fair since im mibox seller.
Your requirements are not complicated. Its pretty common both brand also meets ur requirements.

What i can say is Mibox is pretty good except storage space..u might probably struggle abit (get advise from seller or from forum) to learn how to clear data/cache when u are new.
Once u know the way its pretty simple to do it.

And Himedia storage is quite big (min 8gb) u wouldnt need to learn how to clear cache at all.
That is the only significant difference between Mibox and Himedia and others..

Bear in mind Mibox does not have Playstore and since limited storage it means u cant install many apps/games.
Purely for streaming only.
While other brands box usually has Playstore and can install games.

So its all depends on individual..what is your usage and acceptance level

Thanks, buddy!

Heh, I'm just getting one to view streaming live TV and movies. Won't be using the box for anything else other than that. Since you mentioned Minix, what's the full name so I may look it up?

Thanks again.

live int'l tv stations, particularly in english and hd is not easy to get.

live int'l tv for live sports, particularly in hd and free is hard to get.

a minor tip to offer to those wanting to get into android boxes... with the purchase of a new tv at the same time.

i used to think smart tv's are a waste of time, better get cheaper tv plus an android box. that should be true for last few years. but now... some tv's come with good androids, can be even more advantageous, depending on what u are looking for.

a couple of persisting issues i observed lately about android boxes:

.. most cannot do IFLIX.
.. except for a few certified devices, all boxes cannot do NETFLIX in HD/UHD4K.

The above two are not a problem with the the latest generation of Smart UHD 4K TV's. The androids built in these TV's are new and quite powerful. Other then Netflix and Iflix, put in KODI, Mobdro and a couple other apps - and there is little else u will need! tongue.gif

The USB playback can handle the popular formats, deliver good video quality. In addition, using HDMI ARC or digital audio output, u can get DTS/DD5.1 audio for yr home theater.

So, if u are planning to get a new TV, it may make sense to get the right 4K TV. Of course, if no plans to change TV, getting a box is the logical thing to do.

The above is based on this TV I got recently:

You are much welcome.. It's good to fully understand what one is getting into with Android boxes before committing hard earned money.. Especially when, for a few RM more, one can get satisfaction. There are lots of boxes out there, and here, it's encouraged to buy within one's means & requirements.. Personally, I can vouch that the Minix Neo X8-H Plus will meet all your requirements. However, there's a newer model.. Minix Neo U1.. Advisable to get this over the former, for better support.. There's an official Minix forum & also a dedicated thread on Freaktab.

True, that xml file will only work within KODI. In other apps, the back button functions as normal, returning one to the previous screen.

Finally!! Since 2014, when I was in the market to get the current living room TV, been screaming against ppl who kept on saying buying a smart TV is a dumb idea and that it's better to buy a "dumb" TV & add on an external player like an android box for other needs.. There are "smart" TVs & there's the selection of truly SMART TVs, so one has to pay attention for functional features as you've reported above.. HDMI-ARC & HDMI-CEC functions alone are worth it.
