I suggest you view both yourself to make a decision
Each of us has different requirements on display n there is no correct answer for you You can easily view these demo sets at any Apple outlet Most reviews point to iPad air display colors is more saturated n looks better. I have compared both n seriously the difference is insignificant to me. Some will disagree to this Best view it yourself |

Tim Cook answered your question:
Buy both when you're indecisive. |

I was in your situation few weeks ago. It was really hard to choose between iPad Mini Retina Display or iPad Air. My budget was RM1600, which means I can either purchase an iPad Mini Retina Display 32GB WiFi or iPad Air 16GB WiFi since both cost the same price RM1599.
If I choose iPad Mini Retina Display, I get the additional 32GB storage, which is good to store lots of apps and games. If I choose iPad Air, I only have 16GB storage. And both devices share the same specifications. Until the other night when I decided to look up for reviews between iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina Display. CNet Review: iPad Air VS iPad Mini Retina Display » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So, I decided to buy iPad Air for its better display and bigger screen. I'm an engineering student and I need the ipad for studying lecture slides with thousands of formulas and equations. However, I would like to point this out also. I'm not saying that iPad Mini Retina Display with greyscale isn't good. iPad Mini Retina is powerful, beautiful display, more portable. And lastly, I personally think that Nexus 7 2013 display is a lot better than iPad Air. |

If you already own an iPad 3, The New iPad with Retina Display, I think iPad Mini Retina will be a better choice for you. Which is i already owned one ipad 3 aka The New Ipad. Considering this in to my decision, should i get ipad mini with retina display instead of ipad air? Since you have a 9.7" tablet already, maybe you can consider a smaller and portable screen of 7.9 inches which is the iPad Mini Retina. |

QUOTE(Boykidz93 @ Feb 11 2014, 03:01 AM) I dilemma for so long, I carry my iPad Air everyday & everywhere I go. It's mainly for work use and reading at night when I'm back at home. I do lots of presentations and displaying my works in a bigger screen served me and my client better. The mini Retina is very personal I'd catergorize it. but yesterday, i decide to get ipad Air, same, budget 1.6k, either mini 32GB or air 16GB, HAHAHAHA You have to go see yourself, only decide, My suggestion are If you want to bring it outdoor often, get mini, If just for home-use, get air |

The question you should be asking yourself is, will you still use the current iPad if you buy a new one? Are you placing any importance on portability? Do you carry any bags?Which is i already owned one ipad 3 aka The New Ipad. Considering this in to my decision, should i get ipad mini with retina display instead of ipad air? We cannot tell you which is best for you. You and you alone will know what you need it for and your usage habits. What is good for us may not be good for you and vice versa. |

QUOTE(McFD2R @ Feb 14 2014, 01:55 PM) The question you should be asking yourself is, will you still use the current iPad if you buy a new one? Are you placing any importance on portability? Do you carry any bags? I have iPad 2, iPad 4 and my most recent iPad Mini Retina and I must say the size of the iPad Mini is perfect. We cannot tell you which is best for you. You and you alone will know what you need it for and your usage habits. What is good for us may not be good for you and vice versa. Although the new iPad Air is significantly lighter for the bigger screen, but having experience with the larger screens, I think they're slightly bulky. I love the screen size of the mini and accessibility/portability is not an issue. Maybe that's just me, but if you are a casual user/gamer, iPad Mini would be perfect for you. |
