For this:
http://www.deviantart.com/view/36069792/
(BTW my stuff)

How much would that cost:
1) As a large (larger) JPEG file without watermarks (royalty free)
2) As a layered PSD file, original size, w/o watermarks, but non-transferable
3) I'll do a seperate design for you. Of the same quality.

Just to see how much my hobby would pay off. So even if you're not interested, try to get a quote. biggrin.gif

1) RM 10-20
2) if the layers are organized well, ( if you know what you are doing) then RM 25
3) RM 30-35

Being a graphic artist is different than being a web artist or web designer.

What Type of Web Designer are You?

Anyway, here's my evaluation.
1. USD15-25
2. USD50 max (if you're lucky, someone might get it for USD100)
3. USD10-15 per wallpaper (Request more so bring down the cost)

The reason I'm using USD instead of RM is because I think Malaysians won't pay for a mere wallpaper. If you want to sell, aim at people willing to pay US Dollars.

Small cash but as your rep builds up, they might ask you to design something different.

What if it's not just a wallpaper? (BTW Not even a wallpaper, was a full 3D/2D hybrid)
It's LARGE, can be used in both web and print, and has flexibility to toggle layers. Most people would draw content from your image as they like (provided they paid for it)
Just like the Infinity series (Digital Vision) where one CMYK jpg sells for 300 US smackers. (Ref http://www.fotosearch.com/DGV444/896012/)
*sigh* All depends on your reputation, eh?

Anyway, I guess it depends on rep but seriously if someone doesn't know how to use it effectively on their website then they won't purchase it. I wonder how much does Fotosearch or the contributors earn from Digital Art.

AFAIK, and feel, websites like fotosearch make more money from the photos compared to the digital art. But if you really want to know if you can make money from your hobby, why not sign up an account or auction the wallpaper off somewhere? Ebay? Fotosearch?

If you don't try, you'll never know.

That people can claim as theirs? I don't think so.
Ripping is one of the most deadly sins of being an artist. In multimedia design, that'd be shot down in like... 2 seconds.

I suppose all this for print ??

if someone download from DA, and when a person asked.. this you designed this piece.. answer is no...

if you designed it for someone, then when a person asked the same question, the answer would still remain the same, NO..

Hmm... I did the stuff, all from scratch.
It's not for print, I can allow someone to use it (if they want to).
But I'll stick with client work for the meantime.
