I've been playing Dota for a long time now so I was quite glad that ranked MM came about.

I won 4/5 of the first 5 placements for solo MM but I ended up getting matchmade with teammates that sucked so bad and lost the next 4/5 (ish).

Now, when I "blame" them, I'm not doing so just because I think I'm the only one who played perfectly and they didn't. My problem with the pubs I was matchmade with was that they did things like picking carry at the last minute when everyone has already picked their heroes, picking mid heroes when someone has already called for mid and so forth.

Then there's this one game where someone dc-ed early game and the message was that it was safe to leave and no matchmaking stats would be recorded, so I left (since he was in my team). Then it ended up counting as a loss!

So I was given a rank of 3.1k in solo and I tried to work my way up since it was my hols and lo and behold... more terrible teammates. Terrible to the point where they wouldn't even reply friendly suggestions of chats and just play their own game etc.

I usually play position 4 or 5 and with friends of 4-4.5k mmr I still can fair quite decently as a hard support. But I realize that however good your support is, when you have teammates who pick like 3 carries and ALL of them buy midas when the enemy team is playing some quick push strat, you can't really do much to win the game.

So what role should I master in order to climb the mm since I've been getting really bad teammates lately? Should I just leave the carrying to myself and first pick carry all the time? Need suggestions pls!

instead of blaming, why not teach them what to do?

go support and initiate all the time. lead them to push, smoke in kill and take down tower. find good timing for roshan, take and throw aegis for tower. move as 5. at your rating solo, opponent hardly knows what to do if you guys move as 5.

pick solo mid who can push really fast. ie: pugna, dp, shaman. make sure u push down their towers before 8mins mark usually and win ur lane for obvious reasons.

That's my philosophy at first, but the problem is not that they are newbies that are eager to learn but that they're just arrogant kids who will tell you to stfu because "don't tell me what to do" (Even though I do so in a gentle manner) or they are pinoys who can't speak english and don't even want to try.

I won a few games as DP solo mid when my allies pushed with me, but when I played DP and my allies insisted on farming all day I lost even though I won (got firtblood and good farm) the midlane.

that is sad, but still try your best. luck in 3k~4k is really needed. 4k and above in solo games are really difficult, 10 out of 10 players know their role well. wish u luck climbing there!

First of all when you talk about public game solo it is hard but not impossible to climb up all by yourself . Personally although I not all mmr pursuer but if you want mmr so hard here is what I think you can do .

1.) Get yourself used to a few carry heroes especially ganker that you know well and just stick to that . Because we all know carry normally is the one determine the game from mid to late game .
2.) Take in charge of mid and gank or own them game asap .
3.) Give command like a commander or advice team mate when problem comes ( if you can use mic is better but dont abuse it . but get ready to get scolded stfu because not many people will listen to you or have the same vision as you )
4.) End the game asap when owning because to avoid late game hero own back or pusher .
5.) Try to counter pick enemy hero .

The reason I dont want to pursue is because I dont wanna die of rage . Some people logic / play style and argument is simply "awesome" whistling.gif . So I might as well just take it easy and maintain my mmr better .

my main account I lost 7 out of 10 matches, in which 3 of the loss was abandonment due to disconnection and opponents resuming without waiting me.

I got 3.8k in the end, and I play in SEA server. After several matches I dropped to 3.5k and I stopped playing it. I know I deserve higher mmr so I created a new account for that purpose.

In my new account, out of 10 matches I lost 3 due to teammates who cant play carry but choose it. In all those matches I mainly play full support using tide hunter, ward everything I tapao.

And guess what, I lost last 3 matches but my mmr was 4242 (which could be higher if I did not lose the last 3).

I believe that if you play in SEA, most of the players always pick hard carry / mid gankers and very few are willing to support. So if no one is supporting , you should pick one because support is the hardest to play and usually the most satisfying

Which server do you guys usually play? blush.gif I've been playing solo from 3.8, I've dropped to 3.6 thanks to public team mates . Most of them are viets or pinoys. There was this player today from Penang decided to flame me for roaming but I failed a few times and he started being rude by cursing ( mom, dad, grandfather, cat dog..).. Tired of players like these... Esp when they're failing themselves and I'm not ... doh.gif

Funniest is when I got his personal info and he decided to stfu. Players on Dota 2 nowadays sweat.gif

Actually if you not too obsessed with the rank given, you wont have to rage a lot. Just enjoy, and you are not increasing the mmr as if your future career depend on it. For me, MMR is a lot better than normal game cos out of 10, you manage to get at least 5 match that is high standard or to your standard, which is what MMR for.

But if you serious about increasing ur rank, there is a few hero which more all rounded like Mirana, WR, Pugna, Invoker. But it wont ensure victory, it still depend on ur team performance. Also when MMR, do not random, do no fail pick! If you random and fail too badly, u most likely to get report. Also just remember no flaming, no blaming, else u get report as well lol.

Still lately I havent meet any bad player, or player that fail as badly as normal match, so i guess its still not that bad.

I am very agree with you on this. It's pretty tough to up climb SOLO MMR when there are alot of tards want to play carries.
It pissed me real off, when you see there are four carries in your team when I am the last one to pick.
