my friend have m789 mobo fsb 133 with onboard c3 cpu(via samuel 2) which running about 800mghz...

he also has 256 ddr

he want to try overclock the speed of the cpu but it cant.i mean when he enter the cmos and enter the cpu pnp setup, the screen just shown the speed of ram only(ddr frequency)..and nothing else...

what is that problem?is that mobo/cpu cant overclock at all?

do help him guru!or just share experience.. notworthy.gif

Passively cooled cpu's don't take overclocking well. But still can be overclocked. Your friend knows what he's doing or not?

PM Kagaya...he's got the same board.

I got my 733Mhz C3 up to 1.1Ghz tongue.gif

Don't have the screenshots for 1.1Ghz

If your bios has crappy options, use software instead.

Its a C3, which is quite an old processor, not much to expect from it for Super PI.

Very much like my C3 too. Guess it's bcoz d core limitation. cry.gif Ours based on d ori. rel. core aka Samuel which max. out @ ~700MHz. Due 2 their low production output (as compared 2 Intel & AMD) & heavy speed binning, we can't expect anything more >20% o/c. doh.gif

sniper-on-the-roof managed 2 o/cked fantastically well (a whooping 50% drool.gif) owing 2 it's newer Nehemiah core!!! :jealous:

Why not? tongue.gif
It all depends whether yr mobo support o/cking option(s), if any.
Some boards AUTO detects yr FSB & doesn't allow u 2 budge even a MHz. doh.gif
2nd_ly, if yr P3 is 800E (100FSB) instead of 800EB (133FSB), then it would be much easier.

DISCLAIMER: I wun be responsible 4 any boom. O/c @ yr own risk. Remember 2 backup all data prior 2 doing so esp. 4 noobs. laugh.gif as o/cking may lead 2 data corruption & h/w damage/failure! Dun say I didnt warning, ya!

What u need 2 do basically is:-
1) Up yr VCORE (CPU voltage) eg. 1.7v -> 1.75v+ (if necessary)
2) Up yr FSB slowly from say 133MHz -> 138MHz (depends what's d nx FSB available)

Advancely:- biggrin.gif
3) U may need 2 lower yr RAM speed/timing & up yr VDIMM (RAM / I/O voltage)
4) Change yr HSF / fan extreme o/c. :lol

If u need more specific help, open another thread & PM me as we r cybersquatting on other ppl's thread. laugh.gif Gather info. like yr CPU speed/type, mobo (brand/model), RAM (brand/model/type) etc. icon_rolleyes.gif
